Avocado, pampas and pink suites were everywhere in the 70s and 80s, and plenty are still in good condition. The problem is usually the colour, not the bath.
Send us a picture if you notice any of these:
- A suite that doesn’t match a new bathroom
- Selling or letting a home with an old suite
- A dated coloured suite you’d like in white
- Faded or patchy colour

How we handle coloured bath resurfacing in Barrow Gurney
Everything is resurfaced where it stands, with no new plumbing or tiling. Most suites take one or two days. We’re often asked to fix a suite that doesn’t match a new bathroom and a dated coloured suite you’d like in white, in whole bathroom suites, coloured basins and avocado, pampas and pink baths.
The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If there is a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it. Treat it like any resurfaced bath: mild cleaners and no suction mats.

Prices and what affects them
Resurfacing from £350. We price every job individually. The main factors are:
- Doing more than one item at once
- Access to the area
- Unusual colours or finishes
- The material and finish
It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send pictures and you’ll get a fixed figure.
Send pictures for a quote
You can typically get a fixed quote without us visiting. To make it quick:
- Natural light rather than flash
- One sharp close-up of the damage
- A photo taken from further back
- Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
Most customers in Barrow Gurney get their price from pictures. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we will send back a fixed quote and some dates.

Landlord and trade work in Barrow Gurney
We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Barrow Gurney as well as homeowners. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it normally costs far less than a refit.
We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out pictures. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.
What we do, step by step
Expect a friendly, tidy visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, cover and mask the work area, then carry out the work, which normally takes a day or two, depending on how many items. If anything looks different from your pictures, we’ll talk to you before going ahead.
- The room is protected and ventilated.
- Next we degrease everything and fix chips.
- We key the surface and apply a bonding primer.
- We spray the new white (or other colour) finish.
- We leave everything to cure, normally until the following day.
Preparing for the visit
- Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
- Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
- Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
How to get a price
No survey visit is needed: we price from photos. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through, and we will come back with a fixed figure.

Repair or replace: which is better?
Swapping a coloured suite for a white one involves a plumber, a tiler and new taps. Refinishing it in white changes the colour without taking anything out. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. We don’t add extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.
Why Barrow Gurney clients choose us
- We come to you, anywhere in the UK
- Most jobs done in one visit
- Straight answers about what a repair can do
- Nothing taken out or refitted
Read our pricing or resurfacing vs replacement cost guide.
Should I try a DIY kit first?
If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.
We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

Common questions in Barrow Gurney
Can you do more than one item on the same visit?
Yes. Doing several items on one visit usually costs less than separate visits. Include pictures of each item.
Is it safe with children and pets around?
On the day, the room should be kept clear of pets and children, mainly so nothing gets touched before it has cured.
Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?
Generally, if the item is otherwise sound. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. If replacing would be better, we will say so.
Can tenants book a repair?
Yes, but check with your landlord or agent first. Many landlords are happy for a repair to be arranged before the end of a tenancy.
Do the materials smell?
There can be some smell while we work, so we ventilate the room. It fades as everything cures.
It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?
In most cases. We remove the old repair before doing a new one, so mention it when you send pictures.
What happens if you find more damage?
If we find something the photos didn’t show, we explain it first. The price only changes if you agree.
What do you need from me?
Send photos through the quote form or call 0345 017 0787.
What a repair cannot fix
It helps to know what we cannot do:
- The inside of a toilet bowl, unless we’ve agreed it will last
- Items cracked right through
- Fittings and taps (these are masked, not recoloured)
Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly.
