Signs you need coloured bath resurfacing in Putney

Avocado, pampas and pink suites were everywhere in the 70s and 80s, and many are still sound. It’s normally the colour that dates them, not the condition.

Most people contact us after spotting something like this:

  • Selling or letting a home with an old suite
  • A dated coloured suite you’d like in white
  • A suite that doesn’t match a new bathroom
  • Faded or patchy colour

Questions to ask before booking

  • What aftercare is recommended
  • How long the guarantee is and what it covers
  • Whether there are any call-out or travel charges
  • When it can be used again

Coloured bath resurfacing in Putney without replacing anything

We resurface the bath, basin and tray in place, so there is no plumbing or tiling. A full suite is usually done in one to two days. Whether it’s a dated coloured suite you’d like in white and a suite that doesn’t match a new bathroom, we can help, whatever the material.

You are covered after we leave: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we explain what it covers before you book. Treat it like any resurfaced bath: mild cleaners and no suction mats.

Work for landlords and builders

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, fixing chips and scratches before handover so nothing needs replacing. We are CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.

Prices and what affects them

Resurfacing from £350. A fixed quote means you know the cost before booking. We take into account:

  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • The material and finish

A repair is priced on what needs doing, not where you live. The full price is agreed before booking, with nothing added on the day.

Quotes from your pictures

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what we need:

  • Where you are, by postcode
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • One sharp close-up of the damage

If you’re in Putney and want a price, photos are the quickest way: a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode. You will get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.

Why repair rather than replace?

Swapping a coloured suite for a white one means a plumber, a tiler and new taps. Resurfacing turns it white with everything left in place. Prices start from £350. Compared with replacing, a repair is generally a fraction of the price, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

Why book with us

  • No need to remove anything
  • A fixed quote before booking
  • Straight answers about what a repair can do
  • One visit for most repairs

Questions from Putney

Is a repair better than a new one?

In most cases, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.

Can tenants book a repair?

Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Many landlords are happy for a repair to be arranged.

Do you hold any accreditations?

We’re accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?

Your quote covers the damage in the photos. If there’s more, we’ll tell you before starting.

Does someone need to be in?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time we agree with you.

Do you charge for travel?

No. Our quotes include travel, with the same prices everywhere we work.

Is there any odour?

A little, depending on the job. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum, and it soon fades.

Can you do the toilet too?

Ask us. The inside of a bowl is always wet and scrubbed, so we will advise honestly before quoting.

Honest limits

Some jobs aren’t right for a repair, including:

  • The inside of a toilet bowl, unless we’ve agreed it will last
  • Items cracked right through
  • Fittings and taps (these are masked, not recoloured)

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Avocado, pampas and pink baths
  • Coloured basins
  • Whole bathroom suites
  • Coloured shower trays

How the visit works

When we visit, the technician arrives at the agreed time, protects the room with dust sheets and masking and gets started. The job typically takes one to two days for a full suite. We tidy up before we leave and let you know when you can use it again.

  1. We protect the room and ventilate it.
  2. We clean, degrease and repair any chips.
  3. We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. We spray the new white (or other colour) finish.
  5. Each item is left to cure, typically ready the following day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive

Ask for a price

You don’t need a survey visit. Nearly every job can be priced from photos: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.
