What we’re called out for in Seatle

Avocado, pampas and pink suites were everywhere in the 70s and 80s, and many are still sound. It’s usually the colour that dates them, not the condition.

These are the problems we’re asked about most:

  • A dated coloured suite you’d like in white
  • Faded or patchy colour
  • A suite that doesn’t match a new bathroom
  • Selling or letting a home with an old suite

Questions to ask before booking

  • A fixed price, and whether VAT is included
  • How the room is protected while they work
  • How soon you can use it again
  • Whether a trained technician does the job

Choosing a repair company

Coloured bath resurfacing at your home in Seatle

Most suites take one or two days. We resurface the bath, basin and tray in place, so there’s no plumbing or tiling. Typical jobs include a suite that doesn’t match a new bathroom and selling or letting a home with an old suite, across coloured shower trays, coloured basins and whole bathroom suites.

You get a one-year guarantee, the same in Seatle as everywhere else we work. Look after the new finish like a re-enamelled bath: gentle cleaners, no suction mats.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £350. We charge the same across the UK, including Seatle. The price reflects:

  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • How many areas need work
  • What kind of damage it is
  • Whether we combine several jobs

We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for Seatle. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Getting a price from photos

The better the pictures, the more accurate the price. Here’s what helps:

  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • A picture taken from further back
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare

The quickest way to a price is to send a couple of photos using our quote form or call us. We’ll say right away if a repair is the right fix.

Repairing versus replacing in Seatle

Swapping a coloured suite for a white one involves new sanitaryware, a plumber and a tiler. Resurfacing changes the colour with everything left in place. Prices start from £350. A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send pictures and you will get a fixed figure.

Why book with us

  • A year’s guarantee on all work
  • CHAS and Constructionline accredited
  • We leave the room as we found it
  • No extra charge for your area

See our pricing or resurfacing vs replacement cost guide.

What a repair can’t fix

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair will not do:

  • The inside of a toilet bowl, unless we’ve agreed it will last
  • Items cracked right through
  • Fittings and taps (these are masked, not recoloured)

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think.

Surfaces we repair

  • Coloured shower trays
  • Avocado, pampas and pink baths
  • Coloured basins
  • Whole bathroom suites

What we do, step by step

On the day, we arrive at the time we’ve agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. The job usually takes one to two days for a full suite. We clean up when we are done and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. The room is protected and ventilated.
  2. We clean, degrease and repair any chips.
  3. We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. The new white, or other colour, finish is sprayed on.
  5. Each item is left to cure, usually ready the following day.

Before we arrive

  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work

Advice

Questions from Seatle

What about the toilet?

Ask us. A toilet bowl is constantly wet, so we will advise honestly before quoting.

Do you hold any accreditations?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Generally, if the item is otherwise sound. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. We will tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

Will it make a mess?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and we clean up when we have finished.

Can pets and children be at home?

On the day, the room should be kept clear of pets and children.

Can you quote from photos?

Typically, yes. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed price.

Is my repair covered?

All our work carries a one-year guarantee. We’ll explain what it covers when we quote.

How do I book?

Photos of the damage, a picture of the entire suite and your postcode. Then we’ll agree a date.
