Repairing versus replacing in Sound
Swapping a damaged board can mean lifting the floor back to it, finding a board that matches and relaying. Repairing it leaves the floor down. Our wood floor repair starts from £95. Set against the cost of replacement, a repair is usually a fraction of the price, because there is no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.

Wood floor repair at your home in Sound
Laminate swollen by water can’t be repaired, and we will tell you if that’s the case. Boards are repaired where they lie, matched to the colour and grain. Our repair technicians work on solid wood, engineered wood and wood-effect vinyl (ask us), and common reasons people get in touch are dents from dropped items and chipped board edges.
A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover. Put felt pads on furniture legs and wipe spills immediately.

What happens on the day
It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, protect the area, then carry out the work, which normally takes a morning or an afternoon. If we find something your photos didn’t show, we will explain it before carrying on.
- First the damaged area is cleaned.
- Next we fill the dents and chips.
- The repair is levelled to the board.
- The colour and grain are recreated by hand.
- The repair is finished to match the floor’s sheen.
Preparing for the visit
- Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
- Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
- Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area

Advice
DIY repairs versus a professional job
For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.
Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is generally cheaper.
Sound questions
Can tenants book a repair?
We’re happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Just make sure the landlord agrees.
What happens if you find more damage?
We stop, show you and agree any change before carrying on. You won’t be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.
Can you repair several things at once?
Yes. Doing several items on one visit generally costs less than separate visits. Send pictures of everything you’d like done.
What does wood floor repair cost?
Repairs from £95. The exact price depends on the damage, so we quote from pictures. You know the full cost before anything is booked.
How quickly can you book me in?
Your quote comes with available dates. If it’s urgent, say so and we’ll do what we can.
Can pets and children be at home?
On the day, the room should be kept clear of pets and children, mainly so nothing gets touched before it has cured.
Do you work for landlords and businesses?
We do, regularly. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.
Can you repair a scratched laminate floor?
Yes. Scratches and chips are filled and matched to the pattern.
Prices and what affects them
Repairs from £95. We give every job a fixed quote from photos. These are the things that affect it:
- The colour and finish to match
- Access to the area
- The material
- How many items we do on one visit
We do not add extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.
Getting a price from photos
The better the photos, the more accurate the price. Here’s what helps:
- A photo taken from further back
- Where you are, by postcode
- One sharp close-up of the damage
- Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
For most jobs, photos are all we need to give you a price. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we will send back a fixed quote and some dates.
