Wood floor repair in Swiss Cottage

Wood floor repair in Swiss Cottage, done in place

Boards are repaired where they lie, matched to the colour and grain. Laminate swollen by water cannot be repaired, and we’ll tell you if that’s the case. We regularly repair solid wood, engineered wood and wood-effect vinyl (ask us), and people most often call us about gouges from moving appliances and burns.

You get a one-year guarantee, the same in Swiss Cottage as everywhere else we work. Put felt pads on furniture legs and wipe spills right away.

Common questions in Swiss Cottage

Can scratched laminate be fixed?

Yes. Scratches and chips are filled and matched to the pattern.

Is the work guaranteed?

Yes, for a year. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

What areas do you cover?

All of Greater London, and the rest of the UK. There’s no extra charge for travel.

Will it make a mess?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we take our waste away with us.

Do you charge for travel?

Travel is included in the price, and we charge the same wherever you are.

Does someone need to be in?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time that suits you.

What happens if you find more damage?

The price is fixed for what the photos show. If there is more, we’ll tell you before starting.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Generally, when the rest is in good condition. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. We will tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacing a board can mean lifting the floor back to it, sourcing a matching board and relaying. Repairing it works with the boards in place. Our wood floor repair starts from £95. Instead of hourly rates, we price the entire job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access.

Why us?

  • No extra charge for your area
  • Accredited with CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor
  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish
  • Repair technicians who travel to you, UK-wide

What we do, step by step

The work is clean and fairly quiet, so you can carry on at home. Protection goes down first, then the work takes a few hours. At the end we talk you through the curing time and the aftercare.

  1. First the damaged area is cleaned.
  2. We fill dents, chips and gouges.
  3. We sand the repair flush with the board.
  4. We recreate the colour and grain by hand.
  5. We finish the repair to match the sheen of the floor.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area

Landlord and trade work in Swiss Cottage

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets cannot afford rooms out of action for long, so we keep visits short and tidy. We’ll fit around changeovers where we can.

Choosing a repair company

What wood floor repair costs

Repairs from £95. Every quote is fixed and free. What we look at:

  • The material
  • The colour and finish to match
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • How many areas need work

Set against the cost of replacement, repairing typically costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Send photos for a quote

Photographing the damage takes a minute. Try to send:

  • A photo taken from further back
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings

Most customers in Swiss Cottage get their price from pictures. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we will send back a fixed quote and some dates.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.
