Bath repair in Swiss Cottage without replacing anything
Chips, cracks, rust spots and small holes can be repaired with the bath left exactly where it is. There’s no plumbing to disconnect, the tiles aren’t touched, and the finish is matched to the rest of the bath. Typical jobs include chips on the rim or sides and a cracked acrylic bath, on whirlpool & spa baths, cast iron enamel and pressed steel enamel.
Peace of mind is built in: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we explain what it covers before you book.

Repairs by material
Cast iron
A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that is what we repair.
Acrylic
Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it relies on good support. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.
What happens on the day
Expect a friendly, tidy visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, cover and mask the work area, and get on with the job, which usually takes two to three hours for most chips. If we find something your pictures didn’t show, we will explain it before carrying on.
- We protect the bath and the floor around it.
- We clean, key and degrease the damage.
- We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
- Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
- We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the next day.
Preparing for the visit
- Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
- Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
- Ensure the area is dry

Related advice
Swiss Cottage: your questions answered
What happens after I send pictures?
You get a fixed quote and available dates. If we need another angle, we will ask.
What does bath repair cost?
Prices start from £95. We give a fixed quote based on photos of the damage. Send a close-up and a picture of the entire item with your NW3 postcode.
Can a cracked acrylic bath be fixed?
Most of the time. We reinforce the crack from behind, then fill and refinish the front, so access behind the panel is important.
Will there be a smell?
A little, depending on the job. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum, and it soon fades.
Do you work for landlords and businesses?
We do, regularly. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.
Can you quote from photos?
Usually, yes. Clear photos let us give you a fixed quote without visiting.
What do you need from me?
Send pictures through the quote form or call 0345 017 0787, and we’ll take it from there.
Can you redo someone else’s repair?
Typically, yes. We remove the old repair before doing a new one, so let us know about it.
When we’d advise against a repair
Not everything can be repaired, and we’d rather say so up front. Repairs will not solve:
- Metal that has corroded all the way through
- Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath
- A whole bath that’s dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly.
Materials we repair
- Whirlpool & spa baths
- Acrylic
- Pressed steel enamel
- Roll-top & freestanding
- Cast iron enamel

Common problems we fix in Swiss Cottage
Baths take more knocks than people expect: bottles, shower heads and razors are dropped every day, and taps and wastes are tightened against the surface. Sooner or later, most baths pick up a chip.
Most people contact us when they notice something like this:
- Hairline or through cracks in acrylic
- A hole punched through by something heavy
- A failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting
- Chips on the rim or sides
What to look for in a quote
- What preparation is included
- How the colour is matched
- What aftercare is recommended
- How soon you can use it again
Keeping it looking good
Once the work has cured, treat it gently:
- Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
- Don’t leave razors or cans standing in the bath
- Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas
- Get a dripping tap fixed promptly
Treat the repaired area like the rest of the bath: a soft cloth and washing-up liquid is all it needs. Avoid scourers and gritty cream cleaners.
A chip on a metal bath shouldn’t be left. Once water reaches the metal, rust begins, turning a quick repair into a bigger one.
For landlords and businesses
If you manage property in Swiss Cottage, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Send pictures for each one and we’ll price them together.
We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out pictures. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.
DIY kit or professional repair?
If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.
DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.
Should you replace it?
People often assume a cracked or chipped bath has to come out. Usually it doesn’t: a repair keeps the bath in service for years, without the cost and upheaval of replacing it. Our bath repair starts from £95. Our prices are the same across the UK, so there is no premium for Swiss Cottage. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.
