Non-slip bath coating in Stryd

Non-slip bath coating in Stryd, done in place

It’s popular with older people, families and holiday lets. The coating is clear and textured, so the bath looks much the same. If you’re dealing with worn-out textured areas and resurfaced baths that are now too smooth, we can typically put it right.

Your repair is guaranteed for a year, as with every job we do. Clean with a soft brush and a mild cleaner. Do not use abrasive pads on the textured area.

When to call us in Stryd

Smooth surfaces are easy to clean, yet with soap and water on them they become slippery. The textured patch on an older bath also wears down over time.

These are the problems we are asked about most:

  • A bath or tray that is slippery when wet
  • Worn-out textured areas
  • Safety for older or less mobile people
  • Resurfaced baths that are now too smooth

Questions to ask before booking

  • How your room will be protected
  • What the guarantee covers, and for how long
  • When it can be used again
  • Whether there are any call-out or travel charges

Landlords, agents and businesses in Stryd

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, fixing chips and scratches before handover so nothing needs replacing. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

Letting agents often send us photos straight from the inventory. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

Repairing versus replacing in Stryd

The alternatives are a new textured bath or tray, or relying on a mat, which traps water and needs cleaning. A coating adds grip to the bath you have. Compared with replacing, a repair is generally a fraction of the price, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

Honest limits

A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:

  • Surfaces that are already damaged or peeling (these need repairing first)
  • Textured areas still wet or recently cleaned with oily products
  • Outdoor surfaces

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think before you book.

Materials we repair

  • Acrylic baths
  • Shower trays
  • Wet room floors (ask us)
  • Enamelled baths
  • Resurfaced baths

DIY repairs versus a professional job

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is typically the cheaper route.

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, and the work is guaranteed.

How we price non-slip bath coating

Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we take into account:

  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • How many areas need work
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it

Instead of hourly rates, we price the entire job up front. Damage, material and access decide it.

Getting a price from pictures

Two or three clear pictures are normally enough. Try to include:

  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • A picture taken from further back

Upload a photo of the damage and one of the entire item, with your LL65 postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price.

What happens on the day

Arrival times are agreed in advance, so you are not left guessing. Once we are there, the work takes a morning or an afternoon in most cases. We leave the room clean and you’ll know when it can be used.

  1. We clean and degrease the standing area.
  2. The area to be treated is masked out.
  3. We apply the clear textured coating.
  4. We lift the masking for a clean edge.
  5. Once it has cured, normally overnight, it’s ready.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Open a window if you can
  • Ensure the area is dry
