Non-slip bath coating at your home in The Mount

It’s popular with older people, families and holiday lets. The coating is clear and textured, so the bath looks much the same. We work on enamelled baths, acrylic baths and wet room floors (ask us), and the jobs we see most are a bath or tray that is slippery when wet and worn-out textured areas.

Every repair comes with our one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Dorset. A soft brush and mild cleaner keep it clean. Avoid scourers on the coating.

What a repair can’t fix

A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:

  • Surfaces that are already damaged or peeling (these need repairing first)
  • Textured areas still wet or recently cleaned with oily products
  • Outdoor surfaces

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think.

What we work on

  • Shower trays
  • Resurfaced baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Enamelled baths
  • Wet room floors (ask us)

What happens on the day

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room beforehand. We bring everything we need with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we’ve agreed what we are doing. It generally takes a few hours, and you’re welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. We clean and degrease the standing area.
  2. Next we mask off the area.
  3. We apply the clear textured coating.
  4. We lift the masking for a clean edge.
  5. We leave it to cure, normally overnight.

How to prepare

  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Ensure the area is dry

Repair or replace: which is better?

Instead, you could go for replacing the bath or tray with a textured one, or relying on a mat, which traps water and needs cleaning. A non-slip coating adds grip to the bath you have. The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed quote from your photos, so you know the cost before booking.

What you get with us

  • One visit for most repairs
  • We’ll tell you if it’s not worth repairing
  • Rooms protected and left tidy

The Mount questions

Do you hold any accreditations?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

What areas do you cover?

We cover the entire UK, including The Mount and the rest of Dorset. Send your postcode with your pictures and we will offer you dates.

How soon can you come?

That depends on our diary for your area. We will offer you dates when we send your quote.

Is there any odour?

There can be some smell while we work, which is why we ventilate. It clears as the materials cure.

Does someone need to be in?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time we agree with you.

Is there a call-out fee?

We do not add a call-out fee. The fixed price covers the visit and the work.

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes, and it’s frequently cheaper. Send pictures of everything together and you will get one combined price.

Will I see the coating?

Only slightly: the treated area looks slightly matt.

10 questions to ask before booking

What affects the price in The Mount

There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price is based on:

  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • What kind of damage it is
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • How many items we do on one visit

We don’t add extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Getting a price from pictures

You can take the pictures on your phone, there is no need for anything special. Ensure they show:

  • One picture of the whole bath or shower tray
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • The material, if you know it

For most jobs, photos are all we need to give you a price. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we will send back a fixed quote and some dates.

Can I fix it myself?

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.
