Our bath repair service in B6
Chips, cracks, rust spots and small holes can be repaired with the bath left exactly where it is. Nothing is unplumbed, the tiles are not touched, and the finish is matched to the rest of the bath. We regularly repair acrylic, cast iron enamel and pressed steel enamel, and the jobs we see most are chips on the rim or sides and snagging damage from a refit.
We begin by going over the job with you. Next, we cover and mask everything nearby and we start. It normally takes two to three hours for most chips, and we’ll keep you posted as we go.
- Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
- We clean, key and degrease the damage, and any rust is treated.
- Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
- We match both the colour and the shine.
- We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, typically the following day.

Landlords, agents and businesses in B6
We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in B6 as well as householders. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it usually costs far less than a refit.
Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs in Birmingham and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which is easier on the people living there.
How the damage happens
Dropped items cause the majority of chips, and a lot happen during bathroom refits. Cracks in acrylic have a different cause: the bath is not properly supported, so it flexes under weight.
If you can see any of these, send us a picture:
- Chips on the rim or sides
- Snagging damage from a refit
- Scuffs and scratches in the surface
- Holes from dropped items
Keeping it looking good
It’s all simple stuff, just a few sensible habits:
- Get any new chip repaired before it rusts
- Give the bath a quick rinse after use
- A dripping tap stains enamel, so fix it early
- Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
Care for the repair the same way as the bath: warm water, washing-up liquid and a soft cloth. Avoid scourers and gritty cream cleaners.
Stop using the bath if a crack lets water through. Leaks under a bath can damage floors and ceilings.
Repairs by material
Acrylic
Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it needs firm support underneath. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.
Pressed steel
Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.
When a repair isn’t the answer
Not everything can be repaired, and we’ll tell you before we start. We can’t fix:
- Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)
- Metal that has corroded all the way through
- Cracks in acrylic we can’t reach from underneath
B6 questions
Can I get a quote without a visit?
Nearly always. We only ask to see it in person if the pictures can’t show what we need.
Do the materials smell?
Some materials have a smell while they’re applied. It clears as the materials cure.
Can rust on a bath be repaired?
Yes, very often. The rust is cut back to clean metal and sealed before we fill and finish it.
Do you work in B6?
Yes, we do. Repair technicians travel to B6 from across the region, and the price is the same as everywhere else.
How invisible is a bath repair?
On a glossy bath, you’ll struggle to find it. On worn enamel, it can look shinier than the rest.
I tried a repair kit. Can you fix it?
Regularly. We strip it out, deal with any rust and repair it again.
Can you repair several things at once?
Yes, and it’s often cheaper. Just add the extra items to your pictures and you’ll get one combined price.
