How bath repair works in CT14

Small damage on a bath is worth repairing early. Exposed metal on enamelled baths soon rusts, while cracks in acrylic grow each time the bath moves. Repairing it stops the damage getting worse. Common call-outs are for scratches you can feel with a fingernail and chips on the rim or sides, in roll-top & freestanding, acrylic and cast iron enamel.

Your technician turns up at the time we agreed with you, introduces themselves and checks the damage against your photos first. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before we open a single tin. Most visits take a few hours, depending on the damage, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. First, we check the damage against your photos and agree the plan.
  2. Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
  3. The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
  4. The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
  5. Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.

What you will pay

Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. A repair usually costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

For landlords and businesses

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out pictures. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

Hospitality businesses can’t afford rooms out of action for long, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We can work around your bookings.

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. We price every job individually, from your pictures. What matters most is:

  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • What kind of damage it is
  • How many areas need work

It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Quotes from your photos

Most quotes are done from pictures alone. To make it quick:

  • A wider photo showing the entire bath
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Any details about the material
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale

The quickest way to a price is to send two or three pictures using our quote form or call us. We will tell you honestly whether it can be repaired.

Different materials, different repairs

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid, and often freestanding. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour matched, in much the same way.

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it relies on good support. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

Should you replace it?

When the bath is otherwise sound, repairing beats replacing. It’s quicker, cheaper and far less disruptive, and you keep the bath you chose. If the entire surface is worn, re-enamelling may make more sense, and we’ll tell you.

What your quote should include

  • What preparation is included
  • Aftercare advice
  • Whether they match the colour on site
  • How the room is protected while they work

When we would advise against a repair

A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:

  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath
  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)
  • Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet

CT14 questions

What about rust by the waste?

Yes, it’s one of the most common repairs we do. The rust is cut back to clean metal and sealed before we fill and finish it.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Typically, when the rest is in good condition. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. If replacing would be better, we will say so.

Do you charge for travel?

Travel is included in the price, with the same prices everywhere we work.

What happens next?

You get a fixed price and available dates. If we need another angle, we will ask.

Something went through my bath. Can it be fixed?

Often, if there’s access underneath. The hole is backed, filled and refinished to match.

Can tenants book a repair?

Yes, but check with your landlord or agent first. Many landlords are happy for a repair to be arranged.

When can you do it?

That depends on our diary for your area. Send photos with your postcode and we will reply with the earliest dates.
