About bath repair in E17
A repair fixes just the damaged area and blends it into the rest of the bath, which is far cheaper than replacing a fitted bath. Most baths can be used again the day after. Typical jobs include scratches you can feel with a fingernail and damage done while the bathroom was being fitted, in pressed steel enamel, acrylic and cast iron enamel.
It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, cover and mask the work area, and get on with the job, which generally takes a morning or an afternoon. If we find something your photos didn’t show, we’ll explain it before carrying on.
- We clean the area and remove any loose enamel or rust.
- We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
- The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
- We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
- We leave it to cure; you can normally use the bath the day after.
Cost
Our bath repair starts from £95. The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before you book.

DIY kit or professional repair?
It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is typically cheaper.
It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.
What we are called out for in E17
Nearly all the chips we see start with something being dropped: a shampoo bottle, a shower head, a tile or a tool during a refit. On enamelled baths, a chip that reaches the metal lets water in, and rust follows.
The things clients normally mention when they call are:
- Snagging damage from a refit
- Rust by the waste and overflow
- Scratches you can feel with a fingernail
- Holes from dropped items
When a repair is not the answer
A repair is not always the answer, and we would rather say so up front. We can’t fix:
- Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we cannot get to from below
- Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet
- Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath
Materials and what they mean for the repair
Pressed steel
Steel baths are lighter than cast iron, but have a similar enamel surface. Chips rust quickly on steel, particularly by the plughole, so early repairs matter.
Cast iron
Cast iron is heavy and rigid, finished with fired enamel. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the bath itself lasts for generations, which makes it well worth repairing.
How to look after the repair
Nothing complicated is needed, just a few sensible habits:
- Protect the bath with a towel when doing jobs nearby
- Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning
- Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale
- Keep metal cans and razors off the surface
A repaired bath needs no special treatment. Skip bleach and gritty creams and give it a rinse after each bath.
Stop using the bath if a crack lets water through until it’s repaired. Leaks under a bath can damage floors and ceilings.
Common questions in E17
I tried a repair kit. Can you fix it?
Yes. We remove the old filler and start again. Mention it when you send photos.
Will it make a mess?
Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and we clean up when we have finished.
Can you fix rust around the plughole?
Yes. We remove the rust and loose enamel, seal and fill the area, then colour-match the finish.
Can I add another job to the visit?
Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Include pictures of each item.
What does bath repair cost?
Prices start from £95. The exact price depends on the damage, so we quote from pictures. You’ll get a fixed figure before booking.
How invisible is a bath repair?
We aim for a repair you cannot easily find. The rest of the bath’s condition makes a difference.
How long before I can use the bath?
Most baths can be used the day after. We confirm the time before we leave.
