Our bath repair service in IP14

Whether your bath is steel, cast iron or acrylic, we can repair it. Each material is repaired a little differently: metal baths need any rust dealt with first, and acrylic cracks need support from behind. Common call-outs are for hairline or through cracks in acrylic and snagging damage from a refit, in pressed steel enamel, acrylic and cast iron enamel.

Visits start with a quick look at the job together, so you know exactly what we are doing. Then the area is sheeted and masked and the work begins. It normally takes a few hours, depending on the damage, and we’ll tell you if anything changes.

  1. First, the area is cleaned and any loose enamel or rust is removed.
  2. We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
  3. We mix the colour on the day to match your bath’s exact shade.
  4. We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
  5. We leave it to cure; you can normally use the bath the next day.

What you will pay

Our bath repair starts from £95. Compared with replacing, a repair is usually a fraction of the price, because there is no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.

DIY kit or professional repair?

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is typically the cheaper route.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

Repairs by material

Acrylic

Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. There’s no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that is what we repair.

When a repair isn’t the answer

We would rather lose a job than do one that will not last, so these are the limits:

  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we can’t get to from below
  • Leaking fittings, which need a plumber
  • A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed

Should you replace it?

Replacing a fitted bath normally involves a plumber, removing the old bath, making good the tiles and panel and disposing of the old one. Repairing it deals only with the damage in a single visit.

What your quote should include

  • How the room is protected while they work
  • How soon you can use it again
  • How to care for the finish
  • What happens if they find more damage

What affects the price in IP14

Prices start from £95. Prices are worked out job by job. What matters most is:

  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • What kind of damage it is
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first

The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before you book, with nothing added on the day.

How to get a fixed quote

Before you send photos, these tips help us give you a firm price:

  • Details of any past repairs
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Where you are, by postcode

The quickest way to a price is to send a couple of pictures through our quote form or call us. We will tell you honestly whether it can be repaired.
