Our bath repair service in L12

Small damage on a bath is worth repairing early. On steel and cast iron, exposed metal starts to rust, while cracks in acrylic grow each time the bath moves. A repair stops both. We work on acrylic, whirlpool & spa baths and pressed steel enamel, and the jobs we see most are chips on the rim or sides and an old repair that has yellowed or come loose.

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive on time, protect everything around the work area, carry out the work and tidy away. Plan for a few hours from start to finish. Before leaving, we tell you how long to leave it and how to look after it.

  1. We protect the bath and the floor around it.
  2. We clean, key and degrease the damage, and any rust is treated.
  3. We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
  4. We match both the colour and the shine.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, normally the next day.

What you will pay

Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Rather than charging by the hour, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access.

When we’d advise against a repair

Not everything can be repaired, and we’d rather say so up front. We can’t fix:

  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath
  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)
  • Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet

Repairs by material

Acrylic

An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. There is no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid, and often freestanding. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour-matched, in much the same way.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

What bath repair costs

Prices start from £95. We do not charge extra for travel to L12. The price comes down to:

  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • The material
  • How many areas need work
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out

A repair is priced on what needs doing, not where you live. You’ll see the full price before you book, with nothing added on the day.

Getting a price from photos

Two or three clear photos are generally enough. Try to include:

  • A picture taken from further back
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates

If you are in L12 and want a price, pictures are the quickest way: one close up, one from further back, plus your postcode. You will get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.

Looking after it afterwards

Most damage we see is avoidable. These habits help:

  • Don’t leave razors or cans standing in the bath
  • Have new chips seen to early
  • Give the bath a quick rinse after use
  • Check that an acrylic bath doesn’t move when you stand in it

For the first few days, keep heavy bottles off the repaired spot. After that, normal gentle cleaning is fine without abrasive products.

Stop using the bath if a crack lets water through. Leaks under a bath can damage floors and ceilings.

Your questions about bath repair in L12

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Yes, as long as they stay out of the room we are working in. We’ll let you know when it’s safe to use again.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Include photos of each item.

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

Will the repair show?

The goal is a repair that blends in. How well it disappears depends on the condition of the rest of the bath, and we will tell you what to expect.

What happens if you find more damage?

We will show you and explain before doing anything extra. Nothing extra is done without your say-so.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Generally, yes. Let us know what was used before and we’ll plan for it.

Will there be a smell?

There may be a mild smell during the work, which fades afterwards.
