Bath repair across NP15: what to expect

Whatever the damage, the aim is the same: a smooth, solid repair that blends in. Proper preparation, careful filling and shaping, then colour and gloss matching so it’s level with the surrounding surface. We regularly repair roll-top & freestanding, whirlpool & spa baths and cast iron enamel, and the jobs we see most are rusty patches near the plughole and impact holes in acrylic.

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. We bring everything we need with us, put protection down and get going once we have agreed what we’re doing. It typically takes a few hours, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. We clean the area and remove any loose enamel or rust.
  2. The chip or crack is filled, then sanded level with the bath.
  3. We tint the finish on the day to suit your bath’s shade of white or colour.
  4. We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
  5. The repair is left to cure, and most baths can be used the next day.

What you’ll pay

Our bath repair starts from £95. Compared with replacing, repairing usually costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.

What’s near Usk

Around Usk, we work in homes near Priory Church Of St Mary, Usk Church in Wales Primary School and The Greyhound Inn. For rail, the closest station is Pontypool and New Inn station, roughly 4.9 miles west of the centre. Further afield, we also cover the area around County Hospital (5.5 miles west) and Usk Rural Life Museum (less than half a mile south-west). Not far away are Red Hill.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair will not last.

What a repair can’t fix

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair cannot fix:

  • A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed
  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath
  • A whole bath that is dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix

Keeping it looking good

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Ensure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
  • Cover the bath during DIY or decorating
  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface
  • Rinse it down after each bath

Give the repair the full curing time we recommend before running a bath. After that, gentle cleaning keeps it looking good.

A chip on a metal bath shouldn’t be left. Once water reaches the metal, rust begins, and a rust spot is a bigger repair than a clean chip.

Repairing versus replacing

A new bath costs more than the bath itself: taking out the old one, plumbing, tiling, a panel and redecorating. With a repair, it’s one visit and one price.

  • Who turns up on the day
  • Whether there are any call-out or travel charges

Common problems we fix in NP15

Baths take more knocks than people expect: everyday items get dropped into it all the time, and fittings press hard against the enamel. Over time, chips and rust spots are almost inevitable.

You may need us if you’ve spotted any of these:

  • Snagging damage from a refit
  • Hairline or through cracks in acrylic
  • Chips along the edge of the bath
  • Impact holes in acrylic

NP15: your questions answered

Do you do work for letting agents?

Yes, frequently. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

What do you need from me?

Just photos, your postcode and a contact number. On the day, access to the room.

Do you hold any accreditations?

We’re accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes, and it’s often cheaper. Just add the extra items to your photos and you will get one combined price.

Is it messy?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and we clean up when we’ve finished.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Yes, regularly. Removing the old work can add time, and that is in the quote.

Does someone need to be in?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. After that, you can carry on with your day.
