Our bath repair service in PA31

Most bath damage, from chips and cracks to rust spots and holes, can be repaired with the bath left exactly where it is. Nothing is unplumbed, your tiles stay as they are, and the repaired area is colour matched so it blends in. Typical jobs include a kit repair that didn’t last and scratches you can feel with a fingernail, across roll-top & freestanding, acrylic and cast iron enamel.

The work is clean and fairly quiet, so you can stay at home while we’re there. We protect the area first, then the job itself takes two to three hours for most chips. Before we leave, we explain the curing time and the aftercare.

  1. First, the area is cleaned and any loose enamel or rust is removed.
  2. We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
  3. The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
  4. Finish coats go on, then the repair is polished to blend in.
  5. The repair is left to cure, and most baths can be used the following day.

Repair or replace?

Cast iron baths especially are worth keeping: they’re very heavy to remove, especially upstairs, and a like-for-like replacement can be expensive. Repairing it leaves it where it is.

What your quote should include

  • Who will actually do the work
  • If travel is included in the price
  • Whether the colour is mixed to match
  • How the room is protected while they work

Should I try a DIY kit first?

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

Honest limits

A repair is not always the answer, and we will tell you before we start. We cannot fix:

  • Wear across the whole surface, which needs re-enamelling
  • A steel bath rusted through
  • Cracks in acrylic we can’t reach from underneath

What affects the price in PA31

Prices start from £95. There’s no charge for travel to PA31. The price comes down to:

  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • How much damage there is
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • What the surface is made of

We do not add extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Quotes from your photos

Photographing the damage takes a minute. Try to send:

  • Details of any past repairs
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • A photo taken from further back
  • Natural light rather than flash

The quickest way to a price is to send a couple of pictures through our quote form or ring us. We’ll tell you honestly whether it can be repaired.

Aftercare tips

Nothing complicated is needed, just a few sensible habits:

  • Check that an acrylic bath doesn’t move when you stand in it
  • Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning
  • Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath
  • Cover the bath during DIY or decorating

Give the repair the full curing time we recommend before using the bath. From then on, mild cleaning is all it needs.

Until we visit, a strip of waterproof tape over the damage helps, to keep water out. Remove it before the repair.
