How bath repair works in PL12
It pays to repair bath damage while it’s small. On steel and cast iron, exposed metal starts to rust, while cracks in acrylic grow each time the bath moves. Repairing it stops the damage getting worse. Common call-outs are for snagging damage from a refit and scratches you can feel with a fingernail, across cast iron enamel, pressed steel enamel and whirlpool & spa baths.
It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, cover and mask the work area, then carry out the work, which typically takes two to three hours for most chips. If we find something your pictures didn’t show, we will explain it before carrying on.
- First, the area is cleaned and any loose enamel or rust is removed.
- Next we fill the damage and sand it smooth and level.
- The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
- Finish coats go on, then the repair is polished to blend in.
- The repair is left to cure, and most baths can be used the next day.
What you will pay
Our bath repair starts from £95. Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Materials and what they mean for the repair
Composite and resin
Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid, and often freestanding. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour-matched, just like other baths.
Pressed steel
Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.
DIY repairs versus a professional job
If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.
A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.
Repair or replace?
A new bath brings a chain of other jobs: the tiles sitting on the rim tend to break, a new panel is frequently needed, and the plumbing has to be disconnected and refitted. A repair skips all of it.

Signs you need bath repair
Damage during fitting is very common. Tradespeople drop tools and tiles into the bath, and the damage isn’t always spotted until later. We repair snagging damage like this regularly.
If you can see any of these, send us a photo:
- Chips on the rim or sides
- A failed DIY repair that is discoloured or lifting
- Rust spots around the plughole
- Scuffs and scratches in the surface
How we price bath repair
Prices start from £95. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price depends on:
- Access to the area
- Doing more than one item at once
- How much damage there is
- Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
We do not add extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.
How to get a fixed price
Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what we need:
- The postcode, so we can plan the visit
- Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
- What it’s made of, if you know
- A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
Email us photos of the damage and a wider shot of the whole item, with your PL12 postcode, and we will come back with a fixed quote.
Questions from PL12
Is the work guaranteed?
Yes: twelve months. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.
What happens after I send photos?
We review the photos and send a fixed quote with dates.
Can a cracked acrylic bath be fixed?
Most of the time. The back of the crack is strengthened before the front is filled and refinished, so we need access under the bath.
Do you work in PL12?
Yes. We cover the entire UK and travel to PL12 and the rest of Cornwall. Send photos and we will quote, or call 0345 017 0787.
Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?
In most cases, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.
Can you redo an old repair?
Yes. We remove the old filler and start again. Mention it when you send pictures.
Do you cover the whole of Cornwall?
All of Cornwall, and the rest of the UK. There’s no extra charge for travel.
