How bath repair works in PL16
Whether your bath is steel, cast iron or acrylic, we can repair it. Each material is repaired a little differently: metal baths need any rust dealt with first, and acrylic cracks need support from behind. Typical jobs include chips on the rim or sides and a kit repair that didn’t last, across cast iron enamel, whirlpool & spa baths and pressed steel enamel.
You don’t need to empty the room beforehand. We bring everything we need with us, lay protective sheets and start once you are happy with the plan. Most jobs take a few hours, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.
- First, we check the damage against your photos and agree the plan.
- Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
- We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
- The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
- Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.
Pricing in PL16
Prices start from £95. A repair generally costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

What a repair can’t fix
A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:
- Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)
- Acrylic cracks with no access behind them
- Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath
Keeping it looking good
It’s all simple stuff:
- If an acrylic bath flexes, have its feet adjusted
- Stick to mild cleaners and a soft cloth
- Get a dripping tap fixed promptly
- Cover the bath during DIY or decorating
In the first few days, avoid putting weight or bottles on the repair. After that, normal gentle cleaning is fine, avoiding abrasives.
If water is getting through a crack, stop using the bath. Water under the bath can damage the floor and the ceiling below.
What bath repair costs
Prices start from £95. We charge the same across the UK, including PL16. The price reflects:
- Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
- Unusual colours or finishes
- How much damage there is
- Whether we combine several jobs
Rather than charging by the hour, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it, and doing several items at once reduces it.
Quotes from your photos
You can take the photos on your phone. Just make sure we can see:
- A picture taken from further back
- Any details about the material
- A close-up of the damage, in focus
- Your postcode, so we can check dates
We price from photos so you do not have to wait in for a survey. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through, and you’ll get a fixed figure back.
Should you replace it?
A new bath costs more than the bath itself: removal and disposal, plumbing, a new panel, tiling and decorating. A repair is one job, done in one visit.
Comparing quotes
- How soon you can use it again
- What preparation is included
- Whether they match the colour on site
- What aftercare is recommended
Materials and what they mean for the repair
Cast iron
Cast iron is heavy and rigid, with a fused enamel surface. Chips can rust if left, but the body of the bath lasts a very long time, so it’s always worth repairing.
Acrylic
Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. There is no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.
