Bath repair at your home in S5

You do not need a new bath because of a chip. We fill the damage, shape it to the curve of the bath and refinish it, mixing the colour on the day so the repair is hard to spot. Typical jobs include a failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting and hairline or through cracks in acrylic, across roll-top & freestanding, whirlpool & spa baths and acrylic.

Visits start with a quick look at the job together, so there are no surprises. Next, we cover and mask everything nearby and we start. It normally takes a morning or an afternoon, and we will keep you posted as we go.

  1. We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
  2. Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
  3. We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
  4. We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
  5. Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.

Cost

Prices start from £95. Instead of hourly rates, we price the whole job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

What you get with us

  • No need to remove anything
  • One visit for most repairs

When a repair isn’t the answer

To be straight with you, there are a few things a repair will not fix:

  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense
  • Acrylic cracks with no access behind them

Why repair rather than replace?

Many people think a damaged bath means a new one. Typically it doesn’t: a proper repair gives it years more use, without the cost and upheaval of replacing it.

What your quote should include

  • If travel is included in the price
  • What aftercare is recommended
  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
  • Who will actually do the work

Can I fix it myself?

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is usually the cheaper route.

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

Repairs by material

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that is the part we put right.

Acrylic

Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. They do not rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.

How to care for the repair

Nothing complicated is needed:

  • Stick to mild cleaners and a soft cloth
  • Don’t leave a fresh chip for long
  • Cover the bath during DIY or decorating
  • Store metal items away from the bath

For the first few days, keep heavy bottles off the repaired spot. After that, clean it as you would the rest of the bath.

Stop using the bath if a crack lets water through. Leaks under a bath can damage floors and ceilings.

FAQs for S5

Is a bath repair permanent?

It should, as long as the bath is firm and the area was prepared well. It carries our one-year guarantee.

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Send photos of everything you’d like done.

Something went through my bath. Can it be fixed?

Often, if there’s access underneath. We back the hole, fill it and refinish the surface.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Yes, as long as they stay out of the room we’re working in. We’ll let you know when it’s safe to use again.

Can rust on a bath be repaired?

Yes, it’s one of the most common repairs we do. We take it back to sound metal, seal it, fill it and match the colour.
