Our bath repair service in SG2
A typical bath repair is a few hours’ work, and the bath is back in use the next day. You will not need a plumber or tiler, because the bath doesn’t move. Common call-outs are for deep scratches in acrylic and chips on the rim or sides, on pressed steel enamel, acrylic and cast iron enamel.
It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, cover and mask the work area, then carry out the work, which normally takes two to three hours for most chips. If we find something your photos didn’t show, we’ll explain it before carrying on.
- We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
- Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
- The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
- We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
- The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.
What you will pay
Our bath repair starts from £95. A repair is priced on what needs doing, not your postcode. You’ll see the full price before booking, with no extras added later.
Why book with us
- Everything repaired in place
- Straight answers about what a repair can do
- A fixed quote before booking
- We leave the room as we found it
How to get a price
No survey visit is needed: we price from pictures. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through.
Around Chells
We visit homes around St Hugh & St John, The Nobel School and Lodge Farm Primary School and the streets around them. The nearest railway station is Stevenage station, roughly 1.8 miles south-west. Other landmarks nearby include Lister Hospital (2.1 miles north-west) and Benington Castle (2.4 miles south-east). Green spaces nearby include Pryor's Wood.
What bath repair costs
Repairs from £95. We do not charge extra for travel to SG2. The price comes down to:
- The colour and finish to match
- How many areas need work
- What the surface is made of
- Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for SG2. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.
Quotes from your pictures
Phone pictures are fine. Ensure they show:
- Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
- A photo taken from further back
- Any earlier repairs or coatings
- What it’s made of, if you know
If you are in SG2 and want a price, the easiest route is photos: one close up, one from further back, plus your postcode. We reply with a fixed quote and our next available dates.
Why repair rather than replace?
Cast iron baths in particular are worth repairing: getting one out, particularly from an upstairs bathroom, is a big job, and a like-for-like replacement can be expensive. Repairing it leaves it where it is.

Common problems we fix in SG2
Glass and heavy bottles cause more chips than anything else, with dropped shower heads close behind. Taps and wastes cause problems too: water collects there, so chips nearby rust quickly.
Typical reasons for a call-out include:
- Chips on the rim or sides
- Rusty patches near the plughole
- Scratches you can feel with a fingernail
- Damage done while the bathroom was being fitted
Different materials, different repairs
Cast iron
Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that’s what we repair.
Acrylic
Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. They don’t rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.
Honest limits
We would rather lose a job than do one that won’t last, so these are the limits:
- A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
- Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath
- Acrylic cracks with no access behind them
