Bath repair at your home in SO16
Small damage on a bath is worth repairing early. Exposed metal on enamelled baths soon rusts, while cracks in acrylic grow each time the bath moves. A repair stops both. Common call-outs are for deep scratches in acrylic and a kit repair that didn’t last, in whirlpool & spa baths, acrylic and cast iron enamel.
Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and start once you’re happy with the plan. Most jobs take a morning or an afternoon, and you’re welcome to carry on with your day while we work.
- We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
- Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
- We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
- We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
- The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.
What it costs in SO16
Our bath repair starts from £95. We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for SO16. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.
Why clients in SO16 choose us
- Everything repaired in place
- Dust sheets down, tidy finish
- One visit for most repairs
- Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface
How to get a price
If you’re in SO16 and want a price, the easiest route is pictures: one close up, one from further back, plus your postcode. You’ll get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.
Landmarks near Maybush
Our customers here include homes close to St Peter's Church, St James' Park and Millbrook Community School and the streets around them. Nearby too are Bridge Tavern (within half a mile north-east), Newlands Primary School (within half a mile south-west) and Regents Park Community College (0.7 miles south-east). Maybush’s nearest station is Redbridge station, about 1.2 miles south-west. Other landmarks nearby include Eling Experience (1.8 miles south-west) and Western Community Hospital (within half a mile south). The countryside around Maybush includes Testwood Lakes.
Can I fix it myself?
If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.
It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is typically the cheaper route.
Looking after it afterwards
How the surface is treated afterwards matters:
- Ensure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
- Get a dripping tap fixed promptly
- Cover the bath during DIY or decorating
- Keep metal cans and razors off the surface
Use gentle, non-abrasive cleaners and try not to drop heavy bottles on the repair. Get any new chip seen to quickly, before rust can start.
Tape over a fresh chip or crack until it’s repaired, so water can’t get in. Take it off before we arrive.
Different materials, different repairs
Pressed steel
Pressed steel is thinner and lighter, with an enamel finish like cast iron. Exposed steel rusts fast, especially around the waste, so repair chips early.
Composite and resin
Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid, and frequently freestanding. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, just like other baths.
How we price bath repair
Repairs from £95. You’ll know the full cost before you book. We look at:
- How easy the damage is to reach
- Any earlier repairs that need removing first
- What the surface is made of
- Unusual colours or finishes
Rather than charging by the hour, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and combining items on one visit brings it down.
Send photos for a quote
It only takes a minute to photograph the damage, and it saves a visit. Please include:
- The material, if you know it
- Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
- A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
- A close-up of the damage, in focus
To get a price, send two or three photos using our quote form or call us. We will tell you honestly if a repair is the right fix.
Common problems we fix in SO16
Most bath damage comes from something dropped: a shampoo bottle, a shower head, a tile or a tool during a refit. On steel and cast iron baths, a chip that reaches the metal will start to rust.
Signs it’s time to call us include:
- Rusty patches near the plughole
- Chips along the edge of the bath
- Scratches you can feel with a fingernail
- Holes from dropped items
