Our bath repair service in TS10

It pays to repair bath damage while it’s small. On steel and cast iron, exposed metal starts to rust, while cracks in acrylic grow each time the bath moves. A repair stops both. Common call-outs are for deep scratches in acrylic and chips along the edge of the bath, on roll-top & freestanding, acrylic and cast iron enamel.

It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, protect the area, and get on with the job, which normally takes a morning or an afternoon. If anything looks different from your pictures, we will talk to you before going ahead.

  1. Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased.
  3. We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
  4. Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
  5. We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the next day.

What you will pay

Our bath repair starts from £95. The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. The full price is agreed before you book, with nothing added on the day.

Getting a price

The quickest way to a price is to send two or three pictures using our quote form or call us. We will say right away whether it can be repaired.

Around Redcar

Typical jobs here are in homes near Church of St Peter, Lakes Primary School and Rye Hills School, among other places. The nearest railway station is Redcar East station, roughly 0.8 miles north-east. A little further out are Skelton Castle (4 miles south-east) and Zetland Lifeboat Museum and Redcar Heritage Centre (1.1 miles north). For a walk, there’s Eston Nab and Coatham Marsh.

Should you replace it?

Swapping a damaged bath for a new one normally involves a plumber, lifting out the old bath, re-tiling and a new panel and getting rid of the old bath. A repair deals only with the damage in a single visit.

What your quote should include

  • Aftercare advice
  • Who will actually do the work
  • Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT
  • How your room will be protected

Repairs by material

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it relies on good support. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that is what we repair.

Honest limits

Some jobs are not right for a repair, for example:

  • Leaking fittings, which need a plumber
  • A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed
  • Metal that has corroded all the way through

Signs you need bath repair

A cracked acrylic bath typically wasn’t supported properly. Loose legs, no proper cradle or a floor that gives let the bath move until it cracks.

Clients usually contact us about:

  • Rusty patches near the plughole
  • Chips along the edge of the bath
  • Snagging damage from a refit
  • Hairline or through cracks in acrylic

Looking after it afterwards

So the finish stays in good condition for years:

  • Make sure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
  • Protect the bath with a towel when doing jobs nearby
  • Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners
  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface

Care for the repair the same way as the bath: warm water, washing-up liquid and a soft cloth. Keep scouring pads and gritty cleaners away from it.

Until we visit, a strip of waterproof tape over the damage helps, to keep water out. Take it off before we arrive.
