Aftercare tips

A little care keeps the finish looking good. Our advice:

  • Don’t stand heavy bottles on the tray
  • Avoid strong descalers and bleach
  • Do not ignore a tray that flexes
  • Use a mild, non-abrasive cleaner

Keep an eye on the sealant, and reseal when it starts to fail.

A tray that moves underfoot needs looking at, before it cracks or gets worse.

About our shower tray repair in Bermuda

We repair cracks, chips and scratches in stone resin, acrylic and ceramic trays, and worn trays can be resurfaced completely. The tray stays in place, so the screen and tiling stay as they are. We work on enamelled steel, stone resin and cast iron, and people most frequently call us about chips or cracks by the plughole and a dull, stained or worn surface.

We guarantee the work for a year. If there is a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

Repair or replace in Bermuda?

Replacing a tray generally means removing the screen and tiling, preparing a new base and tiling again. Repairing or resurfacing the tray leaves all of that alone. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. The price depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed quote from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

Why choose Surface Doctor in Bermuda

  • Technicians who travel to you, UK-wide
  • One price list for the whole UK
  • We leave the room as we found it
  • One visit for most repairs

Read our pricing.

When to call us in Bermuda

Most chips come from things dropped in the shower, usually along the edges or by the waste.

People normally call us after spotting one of these:

  • A crack across the base
  • Damage around the waste
  • Chips caused during fitting
  • Chipped corners or rims

What to look for in a quote

  • How the colour is matched
  • How soon you can use it again
  • What aftercare is recommended
  • How your room will be protected

Choosing a repair company

For landlords and businesses

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Bermuda use us as well as homeowners. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it usually costs far less than a refit.

If you manage property in Bermuda, we will quote for several properties at once. Send photos for each one and we will come back with a combined price.

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. A fixed quote means you know the cost before booking. We take into account:

  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • How much damage there is
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • How many items we do on one visit

Rather than charging by the hour, we price the whole job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and doing several items at once reduces it.

Getting a price from pictures

Two or three clear pictures are normally enough. It helps if you send:

  • Natural light rather than flash
  • The material, if you know it
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings

You don’t need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price.

Common questions in Bermuda

Can you fix a cracked tray?

In most cases. If the tray moves, the support needs fixing first.

Is the work guaranteed?

Yes, for a year. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes, and it’s frequently cheaper. Send pictures of everything together and you will get one combined price.

How do I book?

Send pictures through the quote form or call 0345 017 0787, and we will do the rest.

Is it OK to use a cracked tray?

Not until you know the crack is not letting water through. Look for damp or stains below.

Do you charge for travel?

No. Our quotes include travel, and we charge the same wherever you are.

Do the materials smell?

There can be some smell while we work, which is why we ventilate. It fades as everything cures.

What happens after I send photos?

We look at the photos and reply with a fixed price and some dates. If we need another angle, we’ll ask.

DIY kit or professional repair?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is typically cheaper.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

What we can’t put right

Not everything can be repaired, and we’d rather say so up front. We can’t fix:

  • Movement caused by a poor base, until the support is fixed
  • Trays cracked in several places
  • Leaks from the waste or pipework (a plumber’s job)

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer before booking.

The process

We begin by going over the job with you. Then the area is sheeted and masked and we start. Allow a few hours for a repair, longer for a full resurface, and we will keep you posted as we go.

  1. First we check the tray is solid and work out why any crack happened.
  2. We clean and prepare the damaged area or the whole tray.
  3. We fill and strengthen any chips or cracks and sand them smooth.
  4. We colour-match the repair, or spray a new finish across the whole tray.
  5. The tray is left to cure and can typically be used the next day.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift

Getting a price

Upload photos of the damage and a wider shot of the entire item, and tell us you are in Bermuda, and we will come back with a fixed quote.
