Shower tray repair near Boscombe

What happens on the day

Your technician turns up when we said we would and checks the damage against your pictures first. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before we open a single tin. Most visits take a few hours for a repair, longer for a full resurface, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. First, we check whether the tray moves.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned and opened up.
  3. Cracks are reinforced and the damage filled.
  4. The repair is shaped, colour-matched and finished.
  5. We leave it to cure, normally until the following day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Clear the area around the damage

Advice

Shower tray repair in Boscombe, done in place

Shower tray repairs are one of our most common jobs. Chipped edges, cracks and worn finishes can all be put right without removing the tray. Common call-outs are for cracks running from the waste and chips caused during fitting, across ceramic, acrylic and stone resin.

Peace of mind is built in: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we will explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

What your shower tray is made of matters

Stone resin

Stone resin trays are heavy and rigid with a gel-coat finish. They crack if the base isn’t fully supported, and chips are filled and matched to the surface.

Ceramic

Ceramic trays are hard and glossy. Impacts can chip or crack them, and we match the gloss when we repair them.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

Looking after it afterwards

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Keep heavy bottles on a shelf
  • Don’t ignore a tray that flexes
  • Rinse away soap after showering
  • Stick to gentle cleaners

Wait the full curing time before you shower. After that, mild cleaners and good ventilation are all it needs.

Act on split sealant early. It lets water behind the tray and can cause damage underneath.

Boscombe questions

Are you accredited?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

Can you fix a cracked tray?

Typically, if the tray is firmly supported. We reinforce the crack, fill it and refinish the surface.

Is there any odour?

A little, depending on the job. Open windows and an extractor fan help.

Will you leave a mess?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and tidy up before we leave.

Can tenants book a repair?

We can work for tenants, landlords or agents. Get your landlord’s agreement first.

How long does it take to cure?

You will get the exact time when we finish, typically the next day.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Typically, yes. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed quote.

What happens if you find more damage?

We’ll show you and explain before doing anything extra. Nothing extra is done without your say-so.

Signs you need shower tray repair in Boscombe

Stone resin trays are rigid, so they crack rather than bend when they sit on an uneven or poorly supported floor. Timber floors that move can cause it too.

Contact us if you’ve noticed any of these:

  • A cracked shower tray
  • A tray that looks tired however much you clean it
  • Damage from a refit or building work
  • Chips on the edges

What to look for in a quote

  • How to care for the finish
  • What protection goes down before work starts
  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
  • The length of the guarantee and what it covers

How to compare quotes

Honest limits

A repair is not always the answer, and we’d rather say so up front. We cannot fix:

  • A tray that flexes because it was never properly supported
  • Damage below the tray that needs a builder
  • Leaking waste fittings

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer.

A new tray can be cheap, but fitting it isn’t: taking out the enclosure, tiling and resealing. Repairing it takes one visit. Our shower tray repair starts from £95. A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Work for landlords and builders

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out photos. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.
