Shower tray repair in Climping without replacing anything

Shower tray repairs are one of our most common jobs. Chipped edges, cracks and worn finishes are all things we fix in place. Our technicians work on ceramic, enamelled steel and stone resin, and common reasons people get in touch are a tray that creaks or moves underfoot and cracks running from the waste.

Whatever the size of the job, you get the same one-year guarantee.

Climping questions

Can you quote from photos?

Yes, almost always. Clear photos let us give you a fixed price without visiting.

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit generally costs less than separate visits. Include pictures of each item.

Do you cover Climping?

Yes. We cover the whole UK and come to Climping. Send us photos for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Will there be a smell?

There can be some smell while we work, which is why we ventilate. It fades as everything cures.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

In most cases, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. If it is not worth repairing, we will tell you.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Generally, yes. Let us know what was used before.

Do you hold any accreditations?

We’re accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

Is a cracked shower tray safe to use?

It’s best to stop using it until it’s checked, in case water is getting through.

Aftercare tips

Looking after the surface is easy, and it makes a real difference:

  • Clean with washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
  • Rinse the tray after each shower
  • Report any creaking or movement early
  • Ventilate the room after showers

Keep scourers and harsh chemicals off the tray. Warm water and a mild detergent is enough.

Act on split sealant early. Water gets behind and under the tray and can damage the floor below.

Can I fix it myself?

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is usually the cheaper route.

What we cannot put right

A repair is not right for every job, including:

  • Trays cracked in several places
  • Leaks from the waste or pipework (a plumber’s job)
  • Movement caused by a poor base, until the support is fixed

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before you book.

Materials we repair

  • Acrylic
  • Enamelled steel
  • Ceramic
  • Stone resin
  • Cast iron

The process

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we’ve agreed what we’re doing. Most jobs take a few hours for a repair, longer for a full resurface, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. We protect the floor and the enclosure.
  2. Old sealant is removed if it’s in the way.
  3. We clean and key the tray, then repair the damage.
  4. We refinish the surface to match the tray.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when you can shower.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive

Advice

How we price shower tray repair

Prices start from £95. Each job gets its own fixed price. This is what makes a difference:

  • What kind of damage it is
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • What the surface is made of

Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Climping. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Quotes from your photos

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what we need:

  • The material, if you know it
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • Details of any past repairs
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale

There is no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price.

Different materials, different repairs

Enamelled steel

Steel trays have an enamel surface like a steel bath. Exposed metal can rust, so early repairs help.

Stone resin

Stone resin trays are popular because they’re rigid and low-profile. They need a flat, solid base, and repairs are matched to the gel coat.

When to call us in Climping

Most chips come from things dropped in the shower, normally along the edges or by the waste.

These are the problems we are asked about most:

  • Damage from a refit or building work
  • A dull, stained or worn surface
  • Chipped corners or rims
  • Chips or cracks by the plughole
