Need shower tray repair in Crayke?

DIY kit or professional repair?

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is normally cheaper.

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

Shower tray repair in Crayke without replacing anything

You don’t always need a new tray. If it’s solid underneath, it can normally be repaired in place, saving you the cost and mess of a new one. Common call-outs are for movement when you stand on it and a dull, stained or worn surface, across enamelled steel, cast iron and ceramic.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If something isn’t right in that time, we come back and put it right.

What affects the price in Crayke

Repairs from £95. We give every job a fixed quote from pictures. This is what makes a difference:

  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • The material

Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

How to get a fixed price

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what we need:

  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • One picture of the entire shower tray
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates

If you’re in Crayke and want a price, the easiest route is photos: one close up, one from further back, plus your postcode. You will get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.

What a repair cannot fix

We’d rather lose a job than do one that will not last, so here’s what a repair can’t put right:

  • Leaks from the waste or pipework (a plumber’s job)
  • A tray broken in more than one place
  • A tray that moves underfoot

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think before you book.

Materials we work on in Crayke

The process

We turn up when we said we would and checks the damage against your pictures first. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before we open a single tin. The work itself takes a few hours for a repair, longer for a full resurface, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. First we check the tray is solid and work out why any crack happened.
  2. Next we clean and prepare the tray.
  3. We fill and reinforce chips and cracks, then sand them flush.
  4. We match the colour, or refinish the full tray.
  5. Once cured, usually by the day after, you can use the shower.

How to prepare

  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Keep a parking space free if you can

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the whole shower tray, add your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed quote, not a guess.

What your shower tray is made of matters

Enamelled steel

Steel trays have an enamel surface like a steel bath. Chips can rust if they’re left, so it’s worth repairing early.

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it needs firm support underneath. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

How to look after the repair

Looking after the surface is easy, and it makes a real difference:

  • Stick to gentle cleaners
  • Rinse the tray after each shower
  • Reseal when the silicone splits or turns black
  • Keep heavy bottles on a shelf

Store heavy bottles on a shelf, not on the tray, to avoid chips.

If the tray creaks or moves, get it checked, before it cracks or gets worse.

Landlord and trade work in Crayke

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Crayke as well as householders. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it costs much less than replacing.

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.
