Shower tray repair in Crooked Billet

About our shower tray repair in Crooked Billet

We check the tray before repairing it: if it flexes underfoot, the cause needs sorting before any repair, otherwise any crack returns. We will tell you if that’s the case. If you’re dealing with chips on the edges and damage from a refit or building work, we can help, on cast iron, ceramic and acrylic alike.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months in Crooked Billet and everywhere else. We return to put right any problem with the work.

Looking after it afterwards

How the surface is treated afterwards matters:

  • Store bottles off the tray
  • Do not ignore a tray that flexes
  • Do not use strong acids or bleach
  • Keep the bathroom well ventilated

Rinse the tray down after showering, use mild, non-abrasive cleaners, and keep the sealant in good condition so water cannot get underneath.

Act on split sealant early. It lets water behind the tray and can damage the floor below.

Different materials, different repairs

Acrylic

Acrylic trays are lighter and slightly flexible, so good support matters. Cracks and scratches can be repaired.

Stone resin

Stone resin trays are heavy and rigid with a gel-coat finish. Poor support underneath leads to cracks, and chips are filled and matched to the surface.

Why repair rather than replace?

A new shower tray normally involves removing the screen and tiling, preparing a new base and tiling again. Repairing or resurfacing the tray keeps all of that in place. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

Do you do work for letting agents?

DIY repairs versus a professional job

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it won’t stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. There’s no charge for travel to Crooked Billet. The price comes down to:

  • The material and finish
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • Unusual colours or finishes

A repair is priced on what needs doing, not where you live. The full price is agreed before booking.

How to get a fixed price

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what to send:

  • The material, if you know it
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings

Call 0345 017 0787 or use the quote form. With a clear picture of the damage and one of the whole shower tray, we can give you a fixed price the same day in most cases.

What we do, step by step

There’s not much you need to do on the day. Let us in and show us the room, and we will get on with it. Most visits take a few hours, or most of the day to resurface the whole tray.

  1. We make sure the tray doesn’t flex and look for the cause of any crack.
  2. We clean and prepare the damaged area or the whole tray.
  3. Chips and cracks are filled, reinforced and sanded level.
  4. We match the colour, or refinish the full tray.
  5. Once cured, usually by the next day, you can use the shower.

How to prepare

  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible

Getting a price

Getting a price is easy: snap the damage close up and then the entire item, send them over with your postcode, and you will get a fixed price back. Quotes are free and no obligation.

Honest limits

We won’t take on work that will not last, so here’s what a repair can’t put right:

  • Water damage to the floor beneath the tray
  • Trays cracked in several places
  • A tray that moves underfoot

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Acrylic
  • Stone resin
  • Ceramic
  • Cast iron
  • Enamelled steel

When to call us in Crooked Billet

Trays fitted on timber floors can crack if the floor moves, especially if the tray wasn’t bedded properly. On solid floors, cracks usually point to an uneven base.

Most people get in touch when they notice something like this:

  • Damage around the waste
  • A tray that looks tired however much you clean it
  • Scratches in the surface
  • Chips caused during fitting

What to look for in a quote

  • What protection goes down before work starts
  • What happens if the damage is worse than the pictures show
  • Whether there are any call-out or travel charges
  • How long it needs to cure
