How to care for the repair

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. A few tips:

  • Rinse the tray after each shower
  • Check the seal every few months
  • Do not stand heavy bottles on the tray
  • Keep the bathroom well ventilated

Rinse the tray after use, clean with mild cleaners, and keep the sealant in good condition so water can’t get underneath.

Act on split sealant early. Water gets behind and under the tray and can cause damage underneath.

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacing a tray normally means refitting the screen, retiling and resealing. A repair leaves all of that untouched and costs far less. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send pictures and you’ll get a fixed figure.

How to compare quotes

How we price shower tray repair

Repairs from £95. Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we take into account:

  • The type of damage
  • Access to the area
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • The size and number of damaged areas

Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Pen-twyn. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Send photos for a quote

When you take your pictures, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • The material, if you know it
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • One picture of the entire shower tray
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates

Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us pictures through the quote form. With one close-up and one wider picture, we can give you a fixed price without visiting.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, and the work is guaranteed.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is normally cheaper.

The process

When we visit, we arrive at the time we have agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. Expect it to take a few hours for a repair, longer for a full resurface. We tidy up before we leave and let you know when you can use it again.

  1. We ensure the tray does not flex and look for the cause of any crack.
  2. Next we clean and prepare the tray.
  3. Chips and cracks are filled, reinforced and sanded level.
  4. We colour-match the repair, or spray a new finish across the whole tray.
  5. We leave it to cure; the shower is usually usable the following day.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Keep a parking space free if you can

FAQs for Pen-twyn

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

In most cases, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it is not worth repairing, we will tell you.

Can landlords book you?

Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as homeowners in Pen-twyn.

Is a cracked tray repairable?

Often. If the tray moves, the support needs fixing first.

Can tenants book a repair?

We can work for tenants, landlords or agents. Just ensure the landlord agrees.

Is it messy?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we take our waste away with us.

Is there a call-out fee?

Travel is included in the price, and we charge the same wherever you are.

Can you replace the silicone at the same time?

Yes, if you’d like us to. After a repair is a good time to reseal.

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Send photos of everything you’d like done.
