Before repairing a crack, we find out why it happened. If the tray moves, the support is fixed or flagged before we repair it, so the crack doesn’t come back. Whether it’s a tray that creaks or moves underfoot and scratches in the surface, we can help, on stone resin, ceramic and acrylic alike.

Every job is backed for twelve months. We return to put right any problem with the work.

What affects the price in Pen-y-cae

Repairs from £95. We give every job a fixed quote from photos. These are the things that affect it:

  • The type of damage
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • What the surface is made of
  • How hard the colour is to match

  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Any details about the material
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection

To get a price, send a couple of pictures using our quote form or ring us. We will say straight away if a repair is the right fix.

Repairing versus replacing in Pen-y-cae

When the tray is firm and dry underneath, repair is the obvious choice. If water has damaged the floor, or the tray is cracked in several places, a new tray may be better. • Water damage to the floor beneath the tray

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly.

What we work on

  • Stone resin
  • Enamelled steel

The process

On the day itself, there’s little for you to do. Let us in and show us the room, and we’ll take it from there. Most visits take a few hours for a repair, longer for a full resurface.

  1. We check the tray for movement first.
  2. We clean the damage and open it up so the repair can bond.
  3. We reinforce any crack and fill the damage.
  4. The repair is shaped, colour matched and finished.
  5. It’s left to cure, generally until the day after.

How to prepare

  • Open a window if you can
  • Point us to the nearest place to park
  • Clear the area around the damage

Getting a price

Related advice

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Stone resin

Stone resin trays are heavy and rigid with a gel-coat finish. Poor support underneath leads to cracks, and chips can be filled and matched.

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it needs firm support underneath. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

Aftercare tips

Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts:

  • Reseal when the silicone splits or turns black
  • Rinse the tray after each shower
  • Keep the bathroom well ventilated
  • Avoid strong descalers and bleach

Keep scourers and harsh chemicals off the tray. A soft cloth and washing-up liquid do the job.

Failed sealant around a tray should be replaced quickly. Water gets behind and under the tray and can cause damage underneath.
