Shower tray repair in Rew without replacing anything

Before repairing a crack, we find out why it happened. If the tray moves, the support is fixed or flagged before we repair it, so the crack doesn’t come back. Whether it’s movement when you stand on it and chips on the edges, we can help.

Common questions in Rew

What happens if you find more damage?

The price is fixed for what the pictures show. Anything extra is discussed before we begin.

How soon can you come?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. We will offer you dates when we send your quote.

Do you hold any accreditations?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

Will there be a smell?

It depends on the job, but often a little. Open windows and an extractor fan help.

Can I keep using a cracked tray?

We would stop using it until it’s repaired, in case water is getting through.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Generally, yes. We remove the old repair before doing a new one, so let us know about it.

Can a stained tray be refinished?

Yes, it’s a common job. Resurfacing gives a worn tray an even, clean finish.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes, often. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

Keeping it looking good

Simple care helps the repair last. We recommend:

  • Rinse the tray after each shower
  • Keep the bathroom well ventilated
  • Don’t stand heavy bottles on the tray
  • Report any creaking or movement early

Rinse the tray down after showering, clean with mild cleaners, and keep the sealant in good condition so water can’t get underneath.

Failed sealant around a tray should be replaced quickly. It lets water behind the tray and can damage the floor below.

How it works

You don’t need to empty the room beforehand. We bring everything we need with us, lay protective sheets and start once you’re happy with the plan. It usually takes a few hours for a repair, longer for a full resurface, and you can get on with other things while we are there.

  1. We ensure the tray does not flex and look for the cause of any crack.
  2. We clean and prepare the damaged area or the entire tray.
  3. We fill and strengthen any chips or cracks and sand them smooth.
  4. We match the colour, or refinish the full tray.
  5. We leave it to cure; the shower is usually usable the next day.

Advice

When a repair is not the answer

We’ll always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair won’t do:

  • Trays cracked in several places
  • Rotten or damaged flooring underneath
  • A tray that flexes because it was never properly supported

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.

Materials we repair

  • Cast iron
  • Enamelled steel
  • Stone resin
  • Acrylic
  • Ceramic

Can I fix it myself?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is normally cheaper.

Different materials, different repairs

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it needs firm support underneath. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

Ceramic

Ceramic gives a hard, high-gloss surface. They chip and crack from impact, and we match the gloss when we repair them.

Repair or replace: which is better?

When the tray is firm and dry underneath, repair is the obvious choice. If the floor is damaged or the tray is badly cracked, replacement may make more sense. Prices start from £95. Our prices are the same across the UK, so there is no premium for Rew. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Repairs from £95. Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we take into account:

  • Access to the area
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • What the surface is made of
  • Doing more than one item at once

What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed price from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

Getting a price from pictures

Photographing the damage takes a minute. Please include:

  • Natural light rather than flash
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
