We repair a lot of shower trays. Chips by the waste, cracks across the base and dull, stained surfaces can all be put right without removing the tray. Common call-outs are for movement when you stand on it and a damaged area around the waste, in acrylic, enamelled steel and stone resin.

Repair or replace: which is better?
When the tray is firm and dry underneath, repair is the obvious choice. If water has damaged the floor, or the tray is cracked in several places, a new tray may be better. Our shower tray repair starts from £95. The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed quote from your pictures, so you know the cost before you book.
Why St Mark’s customers choose us

DIY kit or professional repair?
It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is typically the cheaper route.
For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.

FAQs for St Mark’s
Will the price change on the day?
The price is fixed for what the photos show. Anything extra is discussed before we begin.
Is there a call-out fee?
There is no separate call-out charge. The fixed price covers the visit and the work.
Can you make an old tray look new?
Yes. The whole tray can be resurfaced.
How do I book?
A close-up, a wider photo and your postcode. Then we will agree a date.
Is repairing better than replacing?
In most cases, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.
What happens after I send photos?
We come back with a fixed price. You are under no obligation.
Is it OK to use a cracked tray?
Not until you know the crack is not letting water through. Check the ceiling below for damp.
How long does it take to cure?
Normally by the following day. We’ll confirm before we leave.
For landlords and businesses
Letting agents frequently send us pictures straight from the inventory. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.
We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Send the address, photos and access details and we will handle the rest.
How it works
We work cleanly and quietly, so you can carry on at home. Protection goes down first, then the work takes a few hours for a repair, longer for a full resurface. At the end we talk you through the curing time and the aftercare.
- First, we check whether the tray moves.
- We clean the damage and open it up so the repair can bond.
- Cracks are reinforced and the damage filled.
- We shape the repair, match the colour and finish it.
- We leave it to cure, normally until the following day.
Preparing for the visit
- Keep a parking space free if you can
- Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
- Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
How to get a price
You do not need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.

How to care for the repair
Nothing complicated is needed:
- Do not use strong acids or bleach
- Rinse the tray after each shower
- Replace failing sealant promptly
- Report any creaking or movement early
Avoid abrasive pads and strong descalers. A soft cloth and washing-up liquid do the job.
Failed sealant around a tray should be replaced quickly. Water gets behind and under the tray and can cause damage underneath.
Materials and what they mean for the repair
Acrylic
Acrylic trays are lighter and slightly flexible, so a firm base is essential. Cracks and scratches can be repaired.
Ceramic
Ceramic trays are hard and glossy. They chip and crack from impact, and the repair is polished to match the shine.
Common problems we fix in St Mark’s
Stone resin trays are rigid, so they crack rather than bend when they sit on an uneven or poorly supported floor. Movement in a timber floor has the same effect.
It’s worth getting a quote if you see:
- A damaged area around the waste
- A crack across the base
- Edge chips from dropped bottles
- A dull, stained or worn surface
Questions to ask before booking
- How long the guarantee is and what it covers
- What happens if the damage is worse than the pictures show
- If travel is included in the price
- Whether they match the colour on site
