Shower tray repair in Tranch

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £95. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price is based on:

  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • How many areas need work
  • What the surface is made of
  • Whether we combine several jobs

Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Tranch. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Getting a price from photos

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what to send:

  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • A wider photo showing the whole shower tray
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit

If you are in Tranch and want a price, pictures are the quickest way: one close up, one from further back, plus your postcode. You’ll get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.

Shower tray repair in Tranch without replacing anything

Shower tray repairs are one of our most common jobs. Chips by the waste, cracks across the base and dull, stained surfaces are all things we fix in place. Whether it’s cracks running from the waste and staining and dullness across the tray, we can usually put it right.

You are covered for a year from the day of the repair. Just call us if there’s a problem and we will come back.

What we do, step by step

It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, protect the area, then carry out the work, which normally takes a few hours, or most of a day for a full resurface. If we find something your pictures didn’t show, we’ll explain it before carrying on.

  1. The surrounding area is sheeted and masked.
  2. Any sealant in the way is cut out.
  3. We clean and key the tray, then repair the damage.
  4. The surface is refinished to match.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when you can shower.

Preparing for the visit

  • Open a window if you can
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Let us know which floor the room is on

Advice

Should I try a DIY kit first?

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it does not stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is typically cheaper.

When a repair isn’t the answer

Before you book, it’s worth knowing the limits too:

  • A tray that flexes because it was never properly supported
  • A tray broken in more than one place
  • Plumbing leaks under the tray

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think before you book.

Materials we repair

  • Cast iron
  • Enamelled steel
  • Stone resin
  • Acrylic
  • Ceramic

Tranch: your questions answered

Can you replace the silicone at the same time?

Yes. We can repair and reseal on the same visit.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Yes, we often do. It can add a little time, which we include in the quote.

Can pets and children be at home?

Yes, as long as they stay out of the room we are working in. We will let you know when it’s safe to use again.

Is the work guaranteed?

Every repair comes with a one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.

Is there a call-out fee?

We don’t add a call-out fee. Your fixed quote includes everything.

Do you cover Tranch?

We do. We send a technician to Tranch for every job, with no extra charge for travel.

Is there any odour?

It depends on the job, but often a little. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Generally, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.

Repair or replace in Tranch?

Trays sit under the screen and tiles, so taking one out disturbs a lot. A repair keeps everything as it is. Prices start from £95. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send pictures and you’ll get a fixed figure.

Why us?

  • We’ll tell you if it’s not worth repairing
  • CHAS and Constructionline accredited
  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • One-year guarantee on every repair

How to care for the repair

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Avoid strong descalers and bleach
  • Reseal when the silicone splits or turns black
  • Don’t stand heavy bottles on the tray
  • Clean with washing-up liquid and a soft cloth

Rinse the tray down after showering, use mild, non-abrasive cleaners, and keep the sealant in good condition so water can’t get underneath.

Every shower forces a little water into a crack, which can damage the floor over time. An early repair is far cheaper than floor repairs.

Landlord and trade work in Tranch

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Tranch as well as homeowners. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it costs much less than replacing.

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs in Torfaen and across the UK. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which is easier on the people living there.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Stone resin

Stone resin is a dense, rigid material with a smooth gel coat. Poor support underneath leads to cracks, and chips can be filled and matched.

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it relies on good support. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.
