Need shower tray repair in Wasbister?

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. There’s no area surcharge for Wasbister. What changes the price is:

  • How many items we do on one visit
  • Access to the area
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out

Instead of hourly rates, we price the entire job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and doing several items at once reduces it.

Quotes from your pictures

You can generally get a fixed price without us visiting. To make it quick:

  • The material, if you know it
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • Details of any past repairs

For a price in Wasbister, the easiest route is pictures: a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode. We reply with a fixed quote and our next available dates.

Shower tray repair at your home in Wasbister

A cracked or chipped shower tray does not always need replacing. If it’s solid underneath, it can typically be repaired in place, which is far less work than a replacement. We’re frequently asked to fix scuffs and light scratches and edge chips from dropped bottles, in acrylic, ceramic and cast iron.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If something isn’t right in that time, we come back and put it right.

When a repair is not the answer

A repair isn’t always the answer, and we will tell you before we start. We cannot fix:

  • A tray broken in more than one place
  • Damage below the tray that needs a builder
  • Movement caused by a poor base, until the support is fixed

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think before booking.

Materials we repair

  • Acrylic
  • Enamelled steel
  • Cast iron
  • Stone resin
  • Ceramic

Should you replace it?

When the tray is firm and dry underneath, repair is the obvious choice. If the floor is damaged or the tray is badly cracked, replacement may make more sense. Prices start from £95. Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Send photos and we’ll give you the exact figure.

Repairs by material

Stone resin

Stone resin trays are heavy and rigid with a gel-coat finish. Poor support underneath leads to cracks, and chips are filled and matched to the surface.

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it needs firm support underneath. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

The process

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. We bring everything we need with us, put protection down and get going once we’ve agreed what we are doing. It normally takes a few hours, or most of the day to resurface the whole tray, and you can get on with other things while we are there.

  1. We check the tray for movement first.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned and opened up.
  3. Cracks are reinforced and the damage filled.
  4. The repair is shaped, colour-matched and finished.
  5. We leave it to cure, normally until the following day.

How to prepare

  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Make sure the area is dry

How to get a price

Related advice

When to call us in Wasbister

Rigid trays don’t bend, they crack if the floor beneath them isn’t flat and fully supported. Movement in a timber floor has the same effect.

Look out for any of the following:

  • Movement when you stand on it
  • Scratches from cleaning or grit
  • A cracked shower tray
  • Chipped corners or rims

Our hiring checklist

Work for landlords and builders

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets need rooms back in use quickly, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We can work around your bookings.

Wasbister questions

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

We ask you to keep children and pets out of the room while we work and until it has cured. Everywhere else in the home is fine.

Do you do work for letting agents?

Yes, often. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

Will it make a mess?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we leave the room clean.

Does someone need to be in?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time that suits you.

How long before I can shower?

Normally by the following day. We’ll confirm before we leave.

What happens if you find more damage?

We will show you and explain before doing anything extra. Nothing extra is done without your say-so.

Do you come to Wasbister?

We do. Repair technicians travel to Wasbister from across the region, and the price is the same as everywhere else.

Looking after it afterwards

It’s all simple stuff, just a few sensible habits:

  • Store bottles off the tray
  • Ventilate the room after showers
  • Report any creaking or movement early
  • Give the tray a quick rinse after use

Store heavy bottles on a shelf, not on the tray, so they can’t be knocked over.

If the tray creaks or moves, get it checked, before it cracks or gets worse.
