Shower tray repair in Wharram le Street without replacing anything

We repair cracks, chips and scratches in stone resin, acrylic and ceramic trays, or resurface the whole tray if it’s worn. The tray stays in place, so the screen and tiling stay as they are. Our technicians work on cast iron, stone resin and ceramic, and people most frequently call us about scratches in the surface and movement when you stand on it.

Every job is backed for twelve months. We return to put right any problem with the work.

Can I fix it myself?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

What a repair cannot fix

Not everything can be repaired, and we would rather say so up front. Repairs won’t solve:

  • Water damage to the floor beneath the tray
  • Movement caused by a poor base, until the support is fixed
  • A tray broken in more than one place

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer before you book.

Surfaces we repair

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £95. You will know the full cost before booking. We take into account:

  • How many items we do on one visit
  • What kind of damage it is
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • Access to the area

A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

How to get a fixed quote

We price nearly every job from photos. This is what we need:

  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • Any details about the material
  • A wider photo showing the entire shower tray

For a price in Wharram le Street, the easiest route is photos: a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode. We reply with a fixed quote and our next available dates.

Why repair rather than replace?

Trays sit under the screen and tiles, so taking one out disturbs a lot. A repair keeps everything as it is. Prices start from £95. What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed quote from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Enamelled steel

Steel trays have an enamel surface like a steel bath. Exposed metal can rust, so it’s worth repairing early.

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it relies on good support. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

Keeping it looking good

So the finish stays in good condition for years:

  • Keep harsh chemicals off the tray
  • Do not ignore a tray that flexes
  • Don’t stand heavy bottles on the tray
  • Replace failing sealant promptly

Give the repair its full curing time before showering. After that, mild cleaners and good ventilation are all it needs.

A small crack lets in a little water every time you shower, which can damage the floor over time. An early repair is far cheaper than floor repairs.

What happens on the day

Here’s how a visit usually runs: we arrive at the agreed slot, protect everything around the work area, do the job and clear up. Plan for a few hours, or most of the day to resurface the whole tray from start to finish. Before we go, we will explain how long to leave it and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. The surrounding area is sheeted and masked.
  2. Old sealant is removed if it’s in the way.
  3. The tray is cleaned, keyed and repaired.
  4. The surface is refinished to match.
  5. We clean up and give you the curing time.

How to prepare

Questions from Wharram le Street

What do you need from me?

Photos of the damage, a picture of the entire shower tray and your postcode. Then we’ll agree a date.

Do you do work for letting agents?

Yes, frequently. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

Is there a call-out fee?

There’s no separate call-out charge. The fixed quote covers the visit and the work.

Do the materials smell?

A little, depending on the job. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum.

Is a cracked shower tray safe to use?

It’s best to stop using it until it’s checked, in case water is getting through.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Include pictures of each item.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Generally, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. If it isn’t worth repairing, we will tell you.

What happens after I send photos?

You will get a fixed quote back. There’s no obligation to book.
