Composite and resin

Cast mineral and resin basins are common in vanity units. They repair well, with colour mixed on site.

Period and antique

Period basins frequently have marks and character worth keeping. We repair carefully around original features.

Sink repair in Ayr without replacing anything

A chipped basin is one of the most noticeable bits of damage in a bathroom. The chip is filled, shaped and polished to blend with the surrounding glaze. We work on vanity unit basins, Belfast and butler sinks and enamelled basins, and people most often call us about crazing in the glaze and damage to a basin in a vanity unit.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. Just call us if there is a problem and we’ll come back.

Honest limits

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • A basin that moves on its brackets
  • Leaks from the fittings
  • A crack that leaks right through the basin

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly.

Surfaces we repair

  • Vanity unit basins
  • Antique & period basins
  • Enamelled basins
  • Belfast and butler sinks
  • Ceramic & vitreous china basins

For landlords and businesses

For anyone letting property in or around Ayr, we’ll quote for several properties at once. Send photos for each one and we will come back with a combined price.

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out photos. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

Should you replace it?

A basin cracked through and leaking needs replacing. For chips and surface damage, repair is the better route. Prices start from £95. Compared with replacing, repairing typically costs far less, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

Do you need sink repair in Ayr?

Fine crazing in the glaze is normally down to age, and strong chemicals speed it up.

The things clients usually mention when they call include:

  • Damage to a basin in a vanity unit
  • Fine cracks across the glaze
  • Chips around the rim
  • Chips from dropped toiletries

What to look for in a quote

  • How your room will be protected
  • How to care for the finish
  • Whether they match the colour on site
  • Whether a trained technician does the job

10 questions to ask before booking

The process

The work is clean and fairly quiet. Protection goes down first, then the work takes a couple of hours for most chips. At the end we talk you through how soon it can be used and how to care for it.

  1. First the basin is cleaned and the damage checked.
  2. Next we fill the damage and shape it to the basin’s profile.
  3. We mix the colour to suit the glaze.
  4. We polish the repair to blend it in.
  5. You can typically use the basin later that day or the next.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Ensure the room can be ventilated

Related advice

Looking after it afterwards

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Fittings shouldn’t be over-tightened
  • Don’t rest hot hair tools on the basin
  • Repair chips before they stain
  • Avoid strong bleach and descalers

Go gently for the first few days, then stick to mild cleaners. Keep heavy bottles and hot tools away from the rim.

Chips near the waste or taps can let water in and stain. Early repair keeps it a small job.

Common questions in Ayr

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

In most cases. The old repair comes out first, so mention it when you send photos.

What happens after I send pictures?

We review the pictures and send a fixed quote with dates.

Can you repair a cracked basin?

Surface cracks can usually be repaired. If it leaks through, replacement is normally better.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

We do, regularly. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

Do you work in Ayr?

We do. We send a technician to Ayr for every job, with no extra charge for travel.

Can you quote from pictures?

In nearly every case. If photos do not show enough, we’ll ask for another angle.

Do you cover the entire of South Ayrshire?

All of South Ayrshire, and the rest of the UK. There’s no extra charge for travel.

Does someone need to be in?

We need someone to let us in. After that, you can carry on with your day.

DIY kit or professional repair?

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, then guarantee it for a year.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.
