About our sink repair in Racks

From hairline cracks by the taps to chips on the rim, basin damage is typically repaired in place. The taps stay connected and the basin stays on the wall. If you’re dealing with chips on the rim or front edge and a period basin that needs restoring, we can generally put it right, on ceramic & vitreous china basins, Belfast and butler sinks and antique & period basins alike.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you’re not left on your own once we’ve gone.

What we cannot put right

Not everything can be repaired, and we would rather say so up front. We can’t fix:

  • Widespread crazing
  • Leaks from the fittings
  • A crack that leaks right through the basin

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly before you book.

What we work on

  • Antique & period basins
  • Ceramic & vitreous china basins
  • Vanity unit basins
  • Enamelled basins
  • Belfast and butler sinks

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair won’t last.

What we do, step by step

On the day itself, there is little for you to do. Let us in and show us the room, and we’ll get on with it. Most visits take a few hours.

  1. First the basin is cleaned and the damage checked.
  2. Next we fill the damage and shape it to the basin’s profile.
  3. We colour-match the finish to the glaze.
  4. We polish it into the surrounding surface.
  5. Normally the basin is back in use the same day or the next.

Preparing for the visit

  • Ensure the room can be ventilated
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Point us to the nearest place to park

Getting a price

You don’t need a survey visit. Nearly every job can be priced from photos: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.

Advice

When to call us in Racks

A basin sits at just the right height to be hit by everything, so chips are common. Fittings that are overtightened can also crack the ceramic.

The things customers generally mention when they call are:

  • Cracks around the tap holes or waste
  • Chips on a built-in basin
  • A chipped basin edge
  • Knocks from hair straighteners

What to look for in a quote

  • How to look after the finish
  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
  • How soon you can use it again
  • What protection goes down before work starts

Our hiring checklist

What sink repair costs

Prices start from £95. Every quote is fixed and free. What we take into account:

  • What the surface is made of
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • The colour and finish to match
  • How much damage there is

No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Quotes from your photos

You can take the pictures on your phone, there is no need for anything special. Just make sure we can see:

  • A photo taken from further back
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area

If you’re in Racks and want a price, the easiest route is pictures: a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode. We reply with a fixed quote and our next available dates.

Why repair rather than replace?

A new basin may mean new taps, a new waste and new tiling, and if it’s part of a suite, it may not match. A repair avoids all of that. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed price from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

What you get with us

  • Repair technicians who travel to you, UK-wide
  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • CHAS and Constructionline accredited
  • Colour-matched on site

Your questions about sink repair in Racks

What information do you need?

Use the quote form or ring 0345 017 0787, and we’ll do the rest.

Is a crack in a basin repairable?

Usually, if it isn’t leaking. A crack that leaks right through generally means a new basin.

What happens after I send photos?

We review the photos and send a fixed quote and the next dates we have.

How much does sink repair cost in Racks?

Prices start from £95. The exact price depends on the damage, so we quote from photos. You’ll get a fixed figure before you book.

Can pets and children be at home?

On the day, the room should be kept clear of pets and children, mainly so nothing gets touched before it has cured.

Is there any odour?

There can be some smell while we work, so we ventilate the room. It clears as the materials cure.

Can you repair a chipped basin?

Yes. We fill the chip, colour-match it and polish it to the basin’s gloss.

Will you remove the sink?

No. We repair it where it is, with the taps left connected.
