Tile repair in Ardtun, done in place

If a tile moves, it may need relaying first, and we’ll tell you. We repair the tile in place, so there is no need to hunt for a matching tile. Common call-outs are for discontinued tiles you can’t replace and drill holes from removed fittings, in marble, natural stone & granite and porcelain tiles.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. Just call us if there’s a problem and we’ll sort it. Take care with heavy items on repaired tiles, and clean with a pH-neutral cleaner.

Before and after: damaged granite tiles repaired in place

What tile repair costs

Repairs from £95. We price every job individually. What matters most is:

  • How hard the colour is to match
  • What the surface is made of
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Doing more than one item at once

We don’t add extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

How to get a fixed price

Photographing the damage takes a minute, and it saves a visit. Please include:

  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Details of any past repairs
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • Natural light rather than flash

There’s no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price.

Work for landlords and builders

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out photos. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

For anyone letting property in or around Ardtun, we will quote for several properties at once. Send photos for each one and we will come back with a combined price.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Swapping out a damaged tile involves breaking out the old tile, tracking down a matching tile and risking the tiles around it. Repairing it leaves the tile where it is. Prices start from £95. The price depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed price from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

Common questions in Ardtun

Which areas do you work in?

We work UK-wide, and that includes Ardtun. Our prices are the same everywhere.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Send photos of everything you’d like done.

When can you do it?

We’ll give you dates with your quote. Tell us if you need it done quickly.

Is there a guarantee?

Every repair comes with a one-year guarantee. We will explain what it covers when we quote.

Will the price change on the day?

The price is fixed for what the photos show. If there’s more, we’ll tell you before starting.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Just keep them out of the work area. We’ll tell you when the room can be used again.

Do the materials smell?

There can be some smell while we work, so we ventilate the room. It clears as the materials cure.

Is there a call-out fee?

There is no separate call-out charge. The fixed quote covers the visit and the work.

When a repair isn’t the answer

We would rather lose a job than do one that won’t last, so here’s what a repair cannot put right:

  • Loose or hollow tiles that need relaying
  • Cracks caused by a moving floor, until the floor is fixed
  • Whole walls of failing grout

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Natural stone & granite
  • Floor and wall tiles
  • Ceramic tiles
  • Marble
  • Porcelain tiles

What happens on the day

When we visit, we arrive at the time we have agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. Expect it to take a morning or an afternoon. We tidy up before we leave and let you know when you can use it again.

  1. We start by cleaning the tile and clearing loose fragments.
  2. The chip, crack or hole is filled.
  3. We shape the repair flush with the tile.
  4. We recreate the colour and pattern by hand.
  5. Finally we seal it to match the tile.

How to prepare

  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
