Tile repair in Hale, done in place

If a tile moves, it may need relaying first, and we will say so. We repair the tile in place, so you don’t need to find a spare. We work on porcelain tiles, natural stone & granite and ceramic tiles, and common reasons people contact us are discontinued tiles you can’t replace and chips from dropped pans and tools.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything isn’t right, ring us and we will come back. Take care with heavy items on repaired tiles, and clean with a pH-neutral cleaner.

Hale: your questions answered

Are you a vetted contractor?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

Can you repair something that is been repaired before?

Generally, yes. The old repair comes out first, so mention it when you send pictures.

What happens after I send photos?

You get a fixed price and available dates. If we need another angle, we will ask.

Does someone need to be in?

We need someone to let us in. After that, you can carry on with your day.

Do you cover the entire of Liverpool?

Everywhere in the UK, Hale included. There is no extra charge for travel.

Can you price it without visiting?

In nearly every case. If photos do not show enough, we’ll ask for another angle.

Can a cracked tile be fixed in place?

Often, yes, as long as it’s still firmly stuck down.

Do you charge for travel?

There’s no separate call-out charge. The fixed quote covers the visit and the work.

What a repair can’t fix

Not everything can be repaired, and we would rather say so up front. We cannot fix:

  • Loose or hollow tiles that need relaying
  • Cracks caused by a moving floor, until the floor is fixed
  • Whole walls of failing grout

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think before booking.

Materials we repair

  • Porcelain tiles
  • Floor and wall tiles
  • Marble
  • Natural stone & granite
  • Ceramic tiles

What we do, step by step

On the day itself, there’s little for you to do. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we’ll take it from there. Most visits take a few hours.

  1. We start by cleaning the tile and clearing loose fragments.
  2. Next we fill the damage.
  3. We level and shape the repair to the tile surface.
  4. The colour and pattern are recreated by hand.
  5. We seal the repair to suit the finish of the tile.

Preparing for the visit

  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Make sure the area is dry
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible

Get a quote

A quote takes minutes to ask for: take one close-up and one wider shot of the tiled area, include your postcode and send them to us. You’ll get a fixed price, not an estimate.

Repair or replace in Hale?

Swapping out a damaged tile involves breaking out the old tile, finding a match and possibly cracking its neighbours. A repair leaves the tile where it is. Prices start from £95. No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

What you get with us

  • One visit for most repairs
  • Every repair guaranteed for a year
  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • Straight answers about what a repair can do

What affects the price in Hale

Repairs from £95. A fixed quote means you know the cost before you book. We look at:

  • The colour and finish to match
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • The material and finish

A repair normally costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Send pictures and we’ll give you the exact figure.

Getting a price from pictures

Good pictures mean an accurate price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • A picture taken from further back
  • The material, if you know it

We price from photos so you don’t have to wait in for a survey. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through, and we’ll come back with a fixed figure.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair won’t last.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

Work for landlords and builders

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Send the address, photos and access details.

When to call us in Hale

Dropped pans and tools chip floor tiles, and wall tiles get drilled for fittings that are later removed. Movement underneath can also crack tiles.

The most common problems we are called about are:

  • Discontinued tiles you cannot replace
  • Damaged tile edges
  • Drill holes from removed fittings
  • Chips from dropped pans and tools

Comparing quotes

  • Whether the colour is mixed to match
  • Whether there are any call-out or travel charges
  • How the room is protected while they work
  • How soon you can use it again
