How we handle tile repair in Knox
The tile stays where it is, so you do not need to find a spare. If a tile moves, it may need relaying first, and we’ll say so. We are often asked to fix cracked floor tiles and discontinued tiles you can’t replace, in ceramic tiles, marble and porcelain tiles.
We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you’re covered after the visit. Avoid dropping heavy items on repaired floor tiles, and use a pH-neutral cleaner.

What a repair cannot fix
Some jobs aren’t right for a repair, for example:
- Loose or hollow tiles that need relaying
- Cracks caused by a moving floor, until the floor is fixed
- Whole walls of failing grout
If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think.
What we work on
- Natural stone & granite
- Marble
- Porcelain tiles
- Floor and wall tiles
- Ceramic tiles
Prices and what affects them
Prices start from £95. Prices are worked out job by job, from your pictures. What matters most is:
- The size and number of damaged areas
- What kind of damage it is
- Unusual colours or finishes
- Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
A repair normally costs much less than people expect, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Send pictures and we’ll give you the exact figure.
How to get a fixed quote
A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. Try to include:
- Where you are, by postcode
- Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
- Something in shot to show the size
- A photo taken from further back
You don’t need a survey visit. Nearly every job can be priced from photos: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.
Repair or replace: which is better?
Replacing a tile involves breaking out the old tile, finding a match and risking the tiles around it. A repair keeps the original tile. Our tile repair starts from £95. We don’t add extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

What we do, step by step
A typical visit goes like this: we arrive on time, sheet and mask the area around the job, carry out the work and tidy away. Allow a few hours. Before we go, we’ll explain when it can be used and how to care for it.
- First the tile is cleaned and loose pieces removed.
- The chip, crack or hole is filled.
- The repair is levelled to the tile surface.
- The colour and pattern are recreated by hand.
- The repair is sealed to suit the tile’s finish.
Getting ready for the visit
- Let us know if it has been repaired before
- Point us to the nearest place to park
- Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
Ask for a price
For most jobs, photos are all we need to give you a price. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

Do you need tile repair in Knox?
Floor tiles chip when pans, tins and tools are dropped, while walls end up with drill holes from old fittings. Movement underneath can also crack tiles.
People normally call us when they notice something like this:
- Damaged tile edges
- Drill holes from removed fittings
- Discontinued tiles you cannot replace
- Chips from dropped pans and tools

Can I fix it myself?
For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.
A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.
