Worktop repair for Cambridge homes

Worktop repair in Cambridge, done in place

A worktop repair is carried out in your kitchen, with the area around the damage covered. Most jobs take a few hours, and you can use the worktop again shortly afterwards. We regularly repair solid wood, solid surface (such as Corian) and granite & marble, and common reasons people get in touch are scorch marks from pans and knife marks.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. Just call us if there is a problem and we’ll sort it.

Cambridge: your questions answered

What do you need from me?

A close-up, a wider photo and your postcode. Then we’ll agree a date.

Can you repair a burn in a worktop?

Normally. Send us a photo and we’ll tell you.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

In nearly every case. If photos don’t show enough, we will ask for another angle.

Can tenants book a repair?

We can work for tenants, landlords or agents. Get your landlord’s agreement first.

Does someone need to be in?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. You do not need to watch us work.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes, and it’s often cheaper. Send pictures of everything together and you’ll get one combined price.

Do you cover Cambridge?

Yes, we do. We send a technician to Cambridge for every job, with no extra charge for travel.

Can you repair something that is been repaired before?

Most of the time. Let us know what was used before and we will plan for it.

What your worktop is made of matters

Laminate

Laminate is a printed surface bonded to a board. We fill damage and paint in the pattern by hand.

Granite and stone

Granite and stone chip at edges and cut-outs. The repair is filled and polished to the stone’s finish.

How to care for the repair

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Re-oil timber worktops
  • Wipe up spills quickly
  • Use a chopping board
  • Never put hot pans down directly

Let the repair cure for the time we give you before putting anything heavy or hot on it. After that, trivets and chopping boards protect it best.

Edge chips can get bigger, and water can reach the core of laminate. An early repair prevents it.

Signs you need worktop repair in Cambridge

Most worktop damage takes a second: a hot pan put down without a trivet, or a heavy pan knocked against the edge. Scratches build up gradually from knives and grit.

Customers typically contact us about:

  • Knife marks
  • Chips on edges and corners
  • Chips in quartz or granite
  • Damage around the sink cut-out

What your quote should include

  • How the room is protected while they work
  • Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT
  • Whether there are any call-out or travel charges
  • How changes to the job are handled

10 questions to ask before you book

What happens on the day

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and start once you are happy with the plan. Most jobs take a few hours, and you’re welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. We look at the damage and the worktop’s finish.
  2. Burnt or loose material is cut back.
  3. We fill and shape the damaged area.
  4. The pattern, flecks or grain are recreated.
  5. We finish it to match the sheen and leave it to cure.

How to prepare

  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before

How to get a price

What we cannot put right

A repair isn’t always the answer, and we would rather say so up front. We cannot fix:

  • Cracks right through stone that has moved
  • Discolouration deep in quartz
  • Water-swollen laminate

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly before you book.

What we work on

  • Quartz
  • Granite & marble
  • Solid wood
  • Solid surface (such as Corian)
  • Laminate

DIY repairs versus a professional job

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, and the work is guaranteed.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Cambridge

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Cambridge use us as well as homeowners. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it costs much less than replacing.

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. Every quote is fixed and free. What we look at:

  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • How many items we do on one visit

It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send pictures and you’ll get a fixed figure.

Getting a price from photos

We price nearly every job from pictures. This is what we need:

  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Details of any past repairs
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • One picture of the whole worktop

For most jobs, pictures are all we need to give you a price. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we will reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.
