How we handle worktop repair in Carsie

A new worktop rarely matches the old one, particularly where several lengths join. A repair leaves the kitchen untouched. If you are dealing with burns from hot pans and scratches and knife marks, we can usually put it right.

You’re covered after we leave: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we explain what it covers before you book.

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacing a worktop means removing the old one, templating and fitting a replacement and refitting the sink and hob, and it may not match the rest of the kitchen. A repair keeps your existing worktop. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send photos and you will get a fixed figure.

Why choose Surface Doctor in Carsie

  • A year’s guarantee on all work
  • Everything repaired in place
  • We come to you, anywhere in the UK
  • We leave the room as we found it

Read our prices page.

What worktop repair costs

Prices start from £95. A fixed quote means you know the cost before you book. We look at:

  • Access to the area
  • How much damage there is
  • The material and finish
  • Doing more than one item at once

A repair usually costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Send photos and we will give you the exact figure.

How to get a fixed price

We price nearly every job from pictures. This is what we need:

  • Something in shot to show the size
  • One picture of the entire worktop
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before

For most jobs, photos are all we need to give you a price. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

Will the repair match a patterned worktop?

Yes. We recreate the pattern by hand so it blends in.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Yes, as long as they stay out of the room we’re working in. We will let you know when it’s safe to use again.

How do I book?

Do I need to be at home?

We need someone to let us in. After that, you can carry on with your day.

Do you cover Carsie?

Yes. We cover the whole UK and come to Carsie. Send us pictures for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Can you quote from photos?

In nearly every case. We only ask to see it in person if the photos cannot show what we need.

Is my repair covered?

Every repair comes with our one-year guarantee. We will explain what it covers when we quote.

What a repair can’t fix

We’d rather lose a job than do one that won’t last, so these are the limits:

  • Discolouration deep in quartz
  • Water-swollen laminate
  • A cracked stone top that’s unsupported

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think.

What we work on

  • Quartz
  • Granite & marble
  • Laminate
  • Solid wood
  • Solid surface (such as Corian)

How to look after the repair

How the surface is treated afterwards matters. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Don’t leave spills to soak in
  • Keep wood oiled
  • Use pH-neutral cleaners on stone
  • Use a chopping board

Wipe water away from joints and around the sink, especially on laminate and wood.

A chip on an edge can grow, and on laminate, water can get into the core. Repairing it early stops that.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

How the visit works

Visits start with a quick look at the job together. After that, protection goes down around the work area and the work begins. It normally takes a few hours, and we will tell you if anything changes.

  1. The area around the damage is protected.
  2. We clean the damage and remove anything loose.
  3. We fill it and level it with the worktop.
  4. We recreate the colour and pattern by hand.
  5. The repair is sealed and polished to match.

How to prepare

  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Make sure the room can be ventilated
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
