Worktop repair in Comp without replacing anything
The hard part of a worktop repair is matching the pattern. We build up the colour and flecks by hand. Common call-outs are for a damaged sink edge and damage to a stone worktop, across solid surface (such as Corian), solid wood and quartz.
You get a one-year guarantee, the same in Comp as everywhere else we work.

Keeping it looking good
After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:
- Wipe up spills quickly
- Don’t knock pans against the edge
- Avoid harsh chemicals on stone and quartz
- Keep joints and edges dry
Let the repair cure for the time we give you before putting anything heavy or hot on it. After that, trivets and chopping boards are your best protection.
Daily use can make burns and chips worse particularly around the sink. An earlier repair is a smaller repair.
What your worktop is made of matters
Laminate
A laminate worktop is a thin decorative layer on a board. Damage is filled and the pattern painted in by hand.
Quartz
Quartz is hard, but its edges are brittle. We fill chips with a tinted resin and polish them.
Can I fix it myself?
It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is usually cheaper.
DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

How the visit works
Here’s how a visit generally runs: we arrive on time, protect everything around the work area, do the job and tidy away. Plan for a morning or an afternoon from start to finish. Before we go, we will explain when it can be used and what to avoid for the first few days.
- The area around the damage is protected.
- The damage is cleaned and any loose material removed.
- It’s filled and levelled with the surface.
- The colour and pattern are built up by hand.
- The repair is sealed and polished to match.
Before we arrive
- Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
- Let us know which floor the room is on
- Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
How to get a price
A quote takes minutes to ask for: photograph the damage, then the entire worktop, add your postcode and send them to us. You’ll get a fixed price, not an estimate.

Why repair rather than replace?
A new worktop means taking out the damaged top, templating and fitting a replacement and reconnecting the sink and hob, and it may not match the rest of the kitchen. A repair keeps your existing worktop. Prices start from £95. Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

FAQs for Comp
How much do I need to move?
Just near the damage. The rest of the kitchen stays usable.
What do you need from me?
Just pictures, your postcode and a contact number. On the day, access to the room.
Is the work guaranteed?
Yes: twelve months. If there is a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.
Can you repair a burn in a worktop?
Frequently, yes. We remove the damaged surface, fill it and recreate the pattern.
Do you do work for letting agents?
Yes, often. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.
Is repairing better than replacing?
Generally, if the item is otherwise sound. A repair avoids removal and making good. We will tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.
Is it safe with children and pets around?
Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit. The rest of the house is unaffected.
Is there any odour?
There may be a mild smell during the work.
How we price worktop repair
Repairs from £95. We do not charge extra for travel to Comp. The price comes down to:
- What the surface is made of
- The colour and finish to match
- The size and number of damaged areas
- How many items we do on one visit
A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.
How to get a fixed quote
Two or three clear pictures are generally enough. Try to include:
- What it’s made of, if you know
- Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
- Details of any past repairs
- A wider photo showing the entire worktop
Getting a price is easy: take a close-up of the damage and a photo from further back, send them to us with your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote. There’s no charge for the quote and you are under no obligation.
