About Corney
Corney is about 14 miles north-west of Ulverston, in Cumbria. We travel to homes and businesses in Corney and the surrounding area, so there’s no workshop to go to. Corney is one of 438 towns and villages in Cumbria where we work. Our jobs stretch from Corney to Liverpool (about 65 miles away).
All of LA19 is within our area. We visit homes around St John the Baptist and the streets around them. The nearest railway station is Bootle (Cumbria) station, roughly 1.8 miles south-west of the centre. Other landmarks nearby include Muncaster Castle (3.1 miles north). For a walk, there is Barfield Tarn and Buck Barrow.
Worktop repair in Corney, done in place
The hard part of a worktop repair is matching the pattern. We build up the colour and flecks by hand. We are frequently asked to fix snagging damage in a new kitchen and chips near the sink, across granite & marble, quartz and solid surface (such as Corian).
You’re covered for a year from the day of the repair. If anything isn’t right, ring us and we will come back.

Corney: your questions answered
Is my repair covered?
Yes, for a year. If there is a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.
Are you accredited?
Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.
Can you repair a burn in a worktop?
Typically, yes. The burn is cut back, filled and patterned to match.
Will you leave a mess?
Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and we clean up when we’ve finished.
Do you cover the whole of Cumbria?
We work UK-wide. Our prices are the same everywhere.
Is there any odour?
Expect a mild smell while we’re working, which fades afterwards.
Can you repair a chipped quartz worktop?
Yes. We match the colour and polish the repair.
Can you match the pattern on my worktop?
Yes. We recreate the pattern by hand.
How to look after the repair
It’s all simple stuff, just a few sensible habits:
- Watch the edges with heavy pans
- Always use a trivet for hot pans
- Wipe up spills quickly
- Keep joints and edges dry
Never put hot pans straight onto the worktop. Heat can mark quartz and stone as well.
A chip on an edge can grow, and water can reach the core of laminate. Repairing it early stops that.
DIY kit or professional repair?
If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, and give it the full curing time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.
It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.
Do you need worktop repair in Corney?
Most worktop damage takes a second: a hot pan put down without a trivet, or a heavy pan knocked against the edge. Scratches build up more slowly, from knives and grit.
If you can see any of these, send us a picture:
- Damage to a stone worktop
- A heat mark or burn
- Chipped corners
- Snagging damage in a new kitchen
What your quote should include
- What happens if the damage is worse than the photos show
- What prep work is covered
- Whether they match the colour on site
- A fixed price, and whether VAT is included
What a repair can’t fix
Not everything can be repaired, and we would rather say so up front. Repairs won’t solve:
- A worktop that has moved because its support has failed
- Deep heat discolouration in quartz, which may not fully disappear
- A cracked stone top that is unsupported
Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before booking.
Materials we repair
- Granite & marble
- Solid wood
- Laminate
- Quartz
- Solid surface (such as Corian)
Repairs by material
Quartz
Quartz is crushed stone bound with resin. We fill and polish chipped edges to match the sheen.
Solid surface
Solid surface tops are the same material all the way through, so scratches and burns can frequently be sanded out and refinished.
Repair or replace: which is better?
Stone and quartz tops are templated and cut to fit, so replacing a section takes time and money. Repairing it is a few hours’ work. Our worktop repair starts from £95. There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.
