Trusted worktop repair in Cubert

How the visit works

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room beforehand. We bring everything we need with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we have agreed what we’re doing. It normally takes a few hours, depending on the damage, and you’re welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. First we look at the damage and what the worktop is made of.
  2. Next we clean up and prepare the damaged area.
  3. We fill with a filler suited to the material and rebuild any missing edge.
  4. We match the colour and pattern by hand.
  5. The surface is sealed or finished to suit the worktop.

What worktop repair costs

Prices start from £95. Each job gets its own fixed quote. This is what makes a difference:

  • The material
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • The type of damage
  • How easy the damage is to reach

A repair is priced on what needs doing, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before booking.

Quotes from your pictures

You can take the pictures on your phone. Just ensure we can see:

  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • A picture taken from further back
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Something in shot to show the size

For a price in Cubert, the easiest route is pictures: a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode. We reply with a fixed quote and our next available dates.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Laminate

A laminate worktop is a thin decorative layer on a board. Damage is filled and the pattern painted in by hand.

Quartz

Quartz is tough, though edges can chip. Chips are filled with tinted resin and polished to the worktop’s finish.

When to call us in Cubert

Worktops take more punishment than anything else in the kitchen. Hot pans leave burns, knives leave scratches, and edges chip when heavy pans or tins hit them.

You may need us if you’ve spotted:

  • Knife marks
  • Burns from hot pans
  • Chipped corners
  • Gouges in the surface

Questions to ask before booking

  • How long the guarantee is and what it covers
  • Aftercare advice
  • What protection goes down before work starts
  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?

Our hiring checklist

Why repair rather than replace?

If the worktop is swollen by water or badly damaged along its length, replacement may be the answer. For chips, burns and scratches, repair is normally far better value. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Our prices are the same across the UK, so there’s no premium for Cubert. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Why us?

  • Usually one visit, start to finish
  • Rooms protected and left tidy
  • Colour mixed on the day to match
  • CHAS and Constructionline accredited

Cubert: your questions answered

Can pets and children be at home?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit and until it has cured. The rest of the house is unaffected.

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

Can landlords book you?

Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as homeowners in Cubert.

Is a repair better than a new one?

In most cases, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. If it isn’t worth repairing, we’ll tell you.

Is my repair covered?

Every repair comes with a one-year guarantee. We will explain what it covers when we quote.

Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?

Most of the time. Let us know what was used before and we’ll plan for it.

Do you cover the whole of Cornwall?

We cover the whole UK, including Cubert and the rest of Cornwall. Send your postcode with your photos and we’ll offer you dates.

What does worktop repair cost?

Prices start from £95. Because every job differs, we price from pictures. You know the full cost before anything is booked.

Keeping it looking good

Nothing complicated is needed, just a few sensible habits:

  • Chopping boards prevent scratches
  • Watch the edges with heavy pans
  • Use pH-neutral cleaners on stone
  • Re-oil timber worktops

Wipe water away from joints and around the sink, particularly with laminate and timber.

Edge chips can get bigger, and on laminate, water can get into the core. Repairing it early stops that.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it does not stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

What we cannot put right

In fairness, some problems need a different fix:

  • A cracked stone top that is unsupported
  • Discolouration deep in quartz
  • Failed support under the worktop

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer.
