How we handle worktop repair in Newcastle

You don’t need a new worktop because of one mark. The damage is filled and refinished to blend into the surface around it. We regularly repair quartz, laminate and solid surface (such as Corian), and people most often call us about damage to a stone worktop and dents and gouges.

Every job is backed for twelve months in Newcastle and everywhere else. We return to put right any problem with the work.

Landlord and trade work in Newcastle

Letting agents frequently send us photos straight from the inventory. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

If you manage property in Newcastle, we’ll quote for several properties at once. Just send photos for each address and we will come back with a combined price.

When we would advise against a repair

A repair isn’t always the answer, and we’d rather say so up front. Repairs will not solve:

  • Water-swollen laminate
  • A worktop that has moved because its support has failed
  • Deep heat discolouration in quartz, which may not fully disappear

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before you book.

What we work on

  • Granite & marble
  • Solid wood
  • Laminate
  • Quartz
  • Solid surface (such as Corian)

Should I try a DIY kit first?

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is typically the cheaper route.

Repairs by material

Laminate

Laminate worktops have a printed decorative layer over a board core. We fill the damage and recreate the pattern by hand.

Quartz

Quartz is tough, though edges can chip. We fill chips with a tinted resin and polish them.

Aftercare tips

Aftercare is simple:

  • Keep joints and edges dry
  • Re-oil timber worktops
  • Never put hot pans down directly
  • Take care with heavy pans near edges

Never put hot pans straight onto the worktop. Heat can mark quartz and stone as well.

A chip on an edge can grow, and on laminate, water can get into the core. An early repair prevents it.

What we do, step by step

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive at the agreed slot, sheet and mask the area around the job, carry out the work and clear up. Allow a few hours, depending on the damage. Before leaving, we tell you when it can be used and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. First, we check the damage and the finish we need to match.
  2. We cut back any burnt or loose material.
  3. We fill and shape the damaged area.
  4. The pattern, flecks or grain are recreated.
  5. It’s finished to the same sheen and left to cure.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit

How we price worktop repair

Repairs from £95. Prices are worked out job by job. The main factors are:

  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • How much damage there is
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • How hard the colour is to match

It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send photos and you will get a fixed figure.

Send photos for a quote

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage. Try to send:

  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • The material, if you know it
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • A wider photo showing the entire worktop

Email us photos of the damage and a wider shot of the whole item, and tell us you’re in Newcastle, and we will come back with a fixed quote.

Newcastle: your questions answered

Is there a call-out fee?

We do not add a call-out fee. Your fixed price includes everything.

What happens next?

You will get a fixed quote back, usually with dates to choose from. You’re under no obligation.

Does someone need to be in?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time we agree with you.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Yes, regularly. It can add a little time, which we include in the quote.

What if the damage is worse than the photos show?

The price is fixed for what the pictures show. Anything extra is discussed before we begin.

Will you leave a mess?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we leave the room clean.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes. We carry out repairs for householders, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses across Down.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Yes, as long as they stay out of the room we’re working in. We will tell you when the room can be used again.

Why repair rather than replace?

Stone and quartz tops are templated and cut to fit, so replacing a section takes time and money. A repair takes a few hours. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. We do not add extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.
