Worktop repair near The Grange

Worktop repair in The Grange without replacing anything

Matching a pattern is the skilled part of a worktop repair. We build up the colour and flecks by hand so the repair blends in. Whether it’s gouges in the surface and scorch marks from pans, we can typically put it right, on solid wood, granite & marble and solid surface (such as Corian) alike.

Big or small, it’s backed by a one-year guarantee.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £95. We do not charge extra for travel to The Grange. The price comes down to:

  • The material and finish
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • What kind of damage it is

The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed price from your photos, so you know the cost before booking.

Getting a price from pictures

Photographing the damage takes a minute. Please include:

  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • A photo taken from further back
  • Natural light rather than flash

Most clients in The Grange get their price from photos. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

How the visit works

When we visit, we arrive at the time we have agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. The job usually takes a few hours, depending on the damage. We clean up when we’re done and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. We start by checking the damage and the worktop material.
  2. We clean the area and prepare the edges of the damage.
  3. We fill with a filler suited to the material and rebuild any missing edge.
  4. We match the colour and pattern by hand.
  5. The surface is sealed or finished to suit the worktop.

How to prepare

  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Let us know about parking or access

We price from pictures so you do not have to wait in for a survey. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through, and we will come back with a fixed figure.

How to look after the repair

Simple care helps the repair last. We recommend:

  • Use a chopping board
  • Don’t knock pans against the edge
  • Use pH-neutral cleaners on stone
  • Do not let water sit on joints

Wipe water away from joints and around the sink, especially on laminate and wood.

A chip on an edge can grow, and water can reach the core of laminate. Repairing it early stops that.

What we are called out for in The Grange

The worst damage often happens in a moment: a hot pan put down without a trivet, or a heavy pan knocked against the edge. Scratches build up gradually from knives and grit.

Common reasons people in The Grange contact us are:

  • A chipped edge
  • Cuts and scratches in the surface
  • A heat mark or burn
  • Chips near the sink

DIY repairs versus a professional job

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

Your questions about worktop repair in The Grange

How quickly can you book me in?

That depends on our diary for your area. Send pictures with your postcode and we’ll reply with the earliest dates.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes, often. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

Can pets and children be at home?

We ask you to keep children and pets out of the room while we work and until it has cured. The rest of the house is unaffected.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Generally, if the item is otherwise sound. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. We will tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes, and it’s frequently cheaper. Send pictures of everything together and we will quote them together.

What happens after I send photos?

We look at the photos and reply with a fixed price and some dates. If we need another angle, we will ask.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

In nearly every case. If pictures do not show enough, we’ll ask for another angle.

Do you repair quartz?

Yes. Chips on edges and around the sink are very common repairs, matched and polished.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Swollen or badly damaged laminate may need replacing. For chips, burns and scratches, repair is usually far better value. Our worktop repair starts from £95. No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

When we’d advise against a repair

A repair isn’t always the answer, and we would rather say so up front. We can’t fix:

  • Deep heat discolouration in quartz, which may not fully disappear
  • Cracks right through stone that has moved
  • A worktop that has moved because its support has failed

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before booking.
