Choosing a repair company

Worktop repair in Tile Cross without replacing anything

A damaged worktop doesn’t have to mean a new kitchen. We fill and refinish the damage so it blends into the pattern. We work on laminate, solid surface (such as Corian) and granite & marble, and the jobs we see most are a damaged sink edge and a heat mark or burn.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months. We return to put right any problem with the work.

How it works

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. We bring everything we need with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we’ve agreed what we are doing. Most jobs take a few hours, depending on the damage, and you’re welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. We protect the rest of the kitchen.
  2. The damage is cleaned and any loose material removed.
  3. We fill it and level it with the worktop.
  4. We recreate the colour and pattern by hand.
  5. The repair is sealed and polished to match.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Ensure the room can be ventilated

Advice

Questions from Tile Cross

Will it make a mess?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and tidy up before we leave.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Nearly always. We only ask to see it in person if the photos can’t show what we need.

Do I need to clear the kitchen?

Only the area we are working on. We protect the rest of the kitchen.

Is there any odour?

Some materials have a smell while they’re applied, which is why we ventilate. It fades as everything cures.

When can you do it?

That depends on our diary for your area. We’ll offer you dates when we send your quote.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Yes, but check with your landlord or agent first. Landlords are frequently glad to have it sorted.

What areas do you cover?

All of Warwickshire, and the rest of the UK. There’s no extra charge for travel.

Do you charge for travel?

No. Our quotes include travel, with the same prices everywhere we work.

Why repair rather than replace?

A new worktop means removing the old one, cutting and fitting a new one and refitting the sink and hob, and matching the rest of the kitchen can be hard. A repair keeps your existing worktop. Our worktop repair starts from £95. There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Why us?

  • Free fixed quotes from pictures
  • Colour mixed on the day to match
  • Rooms protected and left tidy
  • CHAS and Constructionline accredited

Can I fix it myself?

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and give it the full curing time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

What a repair can’t fix

Some jobs are not right for a repair, for example:

  • Laminate that has blown or swollen
  • Discolouration deep in quartz
  • Cracks right through stone that has moved

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

What we work on

  • Laminate
  • Solid wood
  • Granite & marble
  • Solid surface (such as Corian)
  • Quartz

Aftercare tips

How the surface is treated afterwards matters. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Don’t cut directly on the worktop
  • Keep joints and edges dry
  • Take care with heavy pans near edges
  • Use pH-neutral cleaners on stone

Wipe water away from joints and around the sink, particularly with laminate and timber.

Daily use can make burns and chips worse. Repairing it sooner keeps the job smaller.

What worktop repair costs

Prices start from £95. Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we look at:

  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear

We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for Tile Cross. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Quotes from your photos

When you take your photos, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • One picture of the entire worktop
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • Details of any past repairs

Most customers in Tile Cross get their price from photos. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we will send back a fixed quote and some dates.

Different materials, different repairs

Granite and stone

Natural stone worktops chip at edges and around cut-outs. The repair is filled and polished to the stone’s finish.

Wood

Timber tops can be sanded and refinished, and burns and dents repaired.
