Before and after: damaged granite tiles repaired in place

DIY kit or professional repair?

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, then guarantee it for a year.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

Keeping it looking good

So the finish stays in good condition for years:

  • Oil wooden tops regularly
  • Watch the edges with heavy pans
  • Keep a trivet by the hob
  • Steer clear of strong cleaners

Use chopping boards and trivets, wipe up spills promptly, and re-oil wooden worktops regularly.

Daily use can make burns and chips worse. Repairing it sooner keeps the job smaller.

Repairing versus replacing in Uplands

Swollen or badly damaged laminate may need replacing. For chips, burns and scratches, repair is normally far better value. Prices start from £95. Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

What you get with us

  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • Straight answers about what a repair can do
  • Generally one visit, start to finish
  • Every repair guaranteed for a year

Your questions about worktop repair in Uplands

Do I need to be at home?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time we agree with you.

Can you quote from photos?

Yes, almost always. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed price.

Can landlords book you?

We do, regularly. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.

What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?

We’ll show you and explain before doing anything extra. You won’t be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.

Can tenants book a repair?

Yes, but check with your landlord or agent first. Landlords are often glad to have it sorted before the end of a tenancy.

Is there any odour?

Some materials have a smell while they’re applied. It fades as everything cures.

Do you work in Uplands?

Yes, we do. Repair technicians travel to Uplands from across the region, and the price is the same as everywhere else.

How soon can you come?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. Send photos with your postcode and we will reply with the earliest dates.

What we do, step by step

You do not need to empty the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and start once you are happy with the plan. It generally takes a morning or an afternoon, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.

  1. We start by checking the damage and the worktop material.
  2. The area is cleaned and the edges of the damage prepared.
  3. We fill with a filler suited to the material and rebuild any missing edge.
  4. The colour and pattern are matched by hand.
  5. The surface is sealed or finished to suit the worktop.

How to prepare

  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Have a window or extractor fan available

Getting a price

There is no need for us to visit first. Nearly every job can be priced from photos: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price.

  • The type of damage
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • What the surface is made of
  • Access to the area

What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed quote from your photos, so you know the cost before booking.
