How we handle bath re-enamelling in Ardentinny

We do not move the bath, so your taps, tiles and plumbing are left alone. It normally takes one visit, with the bath ready to use the following day. Whether it’s an old resurfacing that’s failing and staining under the taps and around the waste, we can typically put it right, on basins & shower trays, Victorian roll-tops and cast iron baths alike.

We guarantee the work for a year. If there is a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

Can I fix it myself?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair will not last.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is generally the cheaper route.

How to look after the repair

Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts:

  • Don’t leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface
  • Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners
  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
  • Wash away dyes and oils after use

The first few days matter most: give it the full curing time, then clean it gently. After that, no abrasives and no suction mats.

On a worn bath, rust spots keep spreading, and each one adds to the preparation. It’s simpler to resurface before they spread.

What bath re-enamelling costs

Prices start from £350. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price is based on:

  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • The material

No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Quotes from your pictures

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what we need:

  • A picture taken from further back
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit

Getting a price is easy: take a close-up of the damage and a picture from further back, send them to us with your postcode, and you’ll get a fixed quote back. There’s no charge for the quote and you’re under no obligation.

When a repair isn’t the answer

A repair is not always the answer, and we would rather say so up front. We cannot fix:

  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot
  • Leaks from fittings rather than the bath
  • Holes rusted through the metal

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly.

Materials we work on in Ardentinny

  • Cast iron baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Acrylic baths
  • Pressed steel baths

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Acrylic

Acrylic baths can be resurfaced too, using a system that bonds to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot for the finish to last.

Cast iron

Re-enamelling suits cast iron baths perfectly. They’re built to last, and only the surface wears, so resurfacing gives them a new life.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Replacing a bath typically involves a plumber, a fitter and a tiler. Re-enamelling takes one technician and normally one day, and the bath can be used the day after. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send pictures and you will get a fixed figure.

  • Rooms protected and left tidy

The process

You do not need to empty the room. We bring everything we need with us, put protection down and get going once we’ve agreed what we are doing. Most jobs take a full day, and you’re welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures.

How to prepare

  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Make sure the room can be ventilated
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings

Just pictures, your postcode and a contact number. On the day, we only need access to the room.

What does bath re-enamelling cost?
