Repair or replace in Backford?
A new bath means a plumber, removing a heavy bath, re-tiling or making good the walls and several days without a working bathroom. Resurfacing renews the whole surface with the bath left where it is. Prices start from £350. Set against the cost of replacement, repairing usually costs far less, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.

Bath re-enamelling in Backford without replacing anything
Re-enamelling works especially well on cast iron and steel, and we can resurface acrylic baths as well. You end up with a smooth, glossy surface. Our technicians work on basins & shower trays, acrylic baths and cast iron baths, and people most frequently call us about a roll-top that’s seen better days and wear marks under the taps.
We guarantee the work for a year. If there is a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

Do you need bath re-enamelling in Backford?
Enamel doesn’t fail overnight. Years of cleaning, hard water and hot baths dull the surface, starting where water runs and sits.
Keep an eye out for any of the following:
- Staining under the taps and around the waste
- An old resurfacing that is failing
- An outdated colour you’d like to change
- Enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough

What a repair can’t fix
A repair is not right for every job, including:
- Acrylic that moves when you stand in it
- Holes rusted through the metal
- A metal bath with a through crack
If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think.
Surfaces we repair
- Acrylic baths
- Cast iron baths
- Victorian roll-tops
- Pressed steel baths
- Basins & shower trays
Materials and what they mean for the repair
Roll-top and period baths
We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.
Pressed steel
Pressed steel baths take a new finish well, as long as any rust is dealt with first. Steel often rusts by the plughole, so we check it carefully.
Should I try a DIY kit first?
It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.
If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.
What affects the price in Backford
Resurfacing from £350. We don’t charge extra for travel to Backford. The price comes down to:
- The type of damage
- How many items we do on one visit
- Any earlier repairs that need removing first
- Where the damage is and how we get to it
We do not add extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.
Getting a price from photos
Most quotes are done from photos alone. To make it quick:
- The material, if you know it
- Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
- A close-up of the damage, in focus
- A wider photo showing the whole bath
Call 0345 017 0787 or use the quote form. With one close-up and one wider picture, we can price the job.
Backford questions
Do you come to Backford?
We do. Technicians travel to Backford from across the region, with no extra charge for travel.
Will there be a smell?
There may be a mild smell during the work, which fades afterwards.
What does bath re-enamelling cost?
Prices start from £350. Every job gets a fixed price based on photos of the damage. Send a close-up and a photo of the whole item and your postcode.
Can you change the colour of my bath?
Yes, white is the usual choice. Tell us what you’d like when you ask for a quote.
Does re-enamelling smell?
There is some smell while the coating is applied, so we ventilate the room. It fades as the coating cures.
Can I add another job to the visit?
Yes, and it’s often cheaper. Just add the extra items to your photos and we will quote them together.
How quickly can you book me in?
We’ll give you dates with your quote. Tell us if you need it done quickly.
Someone resurfaced my bath and it’s peeling. Can you help?
Generally, yes. The old coating comes off before we resurface it. Tell us about it when you ask for a quote.
How to look after the repair
Once the work has cured, treat it gently:
- Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
- Have chips seen to early
- Wash away dyes and oils after use
- Keep suction mats out of the bath
Rinse the bath and wipe it over after use, especially in hard water areas, to stop limescale building up.
If a previous coating is starting to peel, don’t pick at it. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so it’s better to have it stripped and redone.
What we do, step by step
Arrival times are agreed in advance, so you know when to expect us. Once we’re there, the work takes most of the day in most cases. The room is left tidy.
- We mask and protect the room and ventilate it.
- We clean and degrease the bath and repair any chips or rust.
- We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
- Several coats of new finish are sprayed on.
- We leave it to cure, and it’s usually ready the next day.
Before we arrive
- Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
- Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
- Point us to the nearest place to park
Ask for a price
A quote takes minutes to ask for: photograph the damage, then the whole bath, add your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.
