Need bath re-enamelling in Beckermet?

Prices and what affects them

Resurfacing from £350. We price every job individually, from your pictures. The main factors are:

  • Doing more than one item at once
  • The colour and finish to match
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • What the surface is made of

A repair is priced on what needs doing, not where you live. The full price is agreed before you book, with no extras added later.

Quotes from your photos

Two or three clear pictures are usually enough. It helps if you send:

  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • One picture of the whole bath

Call 0345 017 0787 or use the quote form. With one close-up and one wider picture, we can price the job the same day in most cases.

Bath re-enamelling in Beckermet without replacing anything

Cast iron and steel baths are ideal for re-enamelling, and acrylic baths can be resurfaced too. The result is a smooth, even, glossy finish. We’re often asked to fix a roll-top that’s seen better days and stains that won’t shift, in basins & shower trays, pressed steel baths and cast iron baths.

You get a one-year guarantee, the same in Beckermet as everywhere else we work.

Common problems we fix in Beckermet

Sometimes it’s an earlier resurfacing that has failed, lifting by the plughole or blistering. Failing coatings are stripped back before we resurface.

Send us a photo if you notice any of these:

  • A bath that stays dull however much you clean it
  • Lots of chips and rust spots
  • A coating lifting around the plughole
  • Wear marks under the taps

Choosing a repair company

Repair or replace: which is better?

Replacing a bath generally involves a plumber, a fitter and a tiler. Re-enamelling takes one technician and generally one day, and the bath can be used the day after. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed price from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

Why Beckermet customers choose us

  • Rooms protected and left tidy
  • Colour mixed on the day to match
  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • Straight answers about what a repair can do

Take a look at our pricing and guide to resurfacing and replacement costs.

Honest limits

We won’t take on work that will not last, so these are the limits:

  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
  • A cast iron or steel bath that’s cracked right through
  • Holes rusted through the metal

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Beckermet questions

When can you do it?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. We will offer you dates when we send your quote.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Include photos of each item.

How do I get a price for bath re-enamelling in Beckermet?

Prices start from £350. Every job gets a fixed price based on photos of the damage. Send a close-up and a picture of the entire item with your CA21 postcode.

Do you need to take the bath out?

No. We resurface it in place, so nothing else is disturbed.

Are you accredited?

We are accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

Can you re-enamel a roll-top bath?

Yes, often. We resurface the inside, and the outside can be refinished too.

How long does re-enamelling last?

That depends on preparation and how the bath is treated. Properly prepared and looked after, it lasts well, and it’s guaranteed for a year.

Is repairing better than replacing?

In most cases, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. We’ll be honest if it’s not worth it.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is typically cheaper.

Repairs by material

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that is what we repair.

What we do, step by step

On the day, the technician arrives at the agreed time, protects the room with dust sheets and masking and gets started. The job generally takes a full day. We tidy up before we leave and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure.

How to prepare

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access

Aftercare tips

Aftercare is simple:

  • Wash away dyes and oils after use
  • Do not use the bath until it has fully cured
  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
  • Repair dripping taps early

Wipe the bath dry after use where you can, and rinse away any product left on the surface.

Don’t try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It just wears the enamel further and makes resurfacing more work.
